great thermal device
great little gadget/tool comes in very useful for lots of little jobs, its quite sensitive to temp difference so it can detect a heat source from quite a distance although the actual temperature readout isn't as accurate the further away you are from the source, it runs off the mobile phone battery and it is quite power hungry, if your using a case on your mobile device you'll probably need a port extender i found these to be perfect for the job for the iphone x with an oterbox strada case https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07S84GC3Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1i chose this one over the flir one because you can focus the image for distance or close up and the higher resolution of the sensor helps alot especially with circuit boards and small detailed objects the only real niggling thing is the apps a bit clunky with the occasional crash or failure to load, also the constant clicking tends to be annoying when your in a quiet area, sounds like its broken but its just constantly calibrating the image sensor for temp differences, i like the fact it comes with a sturdy protective case that has enough room for the port extender (linked above) inside, other than that its great

An Excellent Investment
Brilliant! Doing up an old house and it's a phenomenal help looking for damp, heat sources, hidden pipes, leaks etc.Resolution (I have the PRO) is excellent. The app is great too, very easy to use, and with a wide selection of modes and palettes. Minor niggle is that I have to 'allow' it to connect to my photo library every time I plug it into the iPhone, but I think that's Apple's fault...As others have noted, the FOV is quite narrow, so to take a picture of a whole wall, say, you have to be able to stand a good way back, but you get used to it.There are specialist survey companies out there who will charge two or three times the price of this, to come out with their own professional TIC and look for problems on your behalf, so buying this was a no-brainer. Briefly considered a FLiR, but their resolution is (now) pants, as is their app's need to be always connected to the internet (why?)This is a great little device, and so far, totally reliable. Love it!

There are 100’s uses around the home!
Used for a lot more than just the original purposeSo far I’ve found this thermal camera handy for- Drafts around the home, heat loss, insulation- electricity in cables- Rabbits in the field- breeze blocks location behind plasterList could go on but yes it’s handy little cameraThe only main negative is the amount of pressure it could put on the lightening connector port of your phone and it may not fit if you have a case on

Good picture and eats phone battery fast
The media could not be loaded. Good product. Eats the phone battery though. The app interface is a bit confusing but I’m not an every day user so it’s probably ok if you get used to it. I’ve surveyed my house and use to see coolant movement in engines. Does that well. Hopefully a video of a bathroom sink is attached.

Yet to be impressed
Still trying to work with this to get best out of it but having had a proper hand held Flir unit in the past i am struggling the quality of image-i was skeptical about how something so small clipped into my phone could replace a larger hand held unit.It may be good enough for basic detection on a domestic scale but i dont feel its of much professional value.

Seek Thermal Compact Pro vs Flir One 2nd Generation
I have the Flir One 2nd generation thermal widget for the iPhone. This works quite well but when I saw the much better thermal resolution of the Seek Thermal Compact Pro I got quite excited! In reality the difference is a bit more complicated! The Flir One thermal camera uses a normal light camera and merges the two images together. Its quite effective as it outlines things in the image to make it a lot easier to figure out what you are looking at.The Seek Thermal Compact Pro doesn't have this feature. In a direct comparison out the camera the Flir One images actually look better - smoother and with clearly defined edges. In the images I've uploaded you'll see the Seem Compact Pro image in the first image and the same default image from the Flir One in the 3rd image.Image two I have put tape over the Flir's normal camera lens - so what you are seeing is just the thermal image. Now the Seek Thermal Pro looks much better! So in terms of pure thermal image quality - the Seek Thermal Pro is better. But in practical use the Flir One is actually better as you can see the outline of things ( 2nd gen - the 3rd gen has lower resolution - not sure about the 4th gen version ).However in the dark ( or with tape over the lens! ) the Flir One loses its advantage and the Seek Thermal Pro is the better option. For general daylight thermal imaging the Flir One is the better option. But for night time use - such as hunting - the Seek Thermal Pro would be the best option. Also the Seek Thermal Pro has a narrower field of view - essentially a bit more "zoomed" in that the Flir One - again for hunting or spotting criminals in the bushes this is better!Other downsides of the Seek Thermal Pro vs the Flir One:1) Clicking noise! The Flir One is silent. The Seek Thermal Pro makes a clicking noise every few seconds. Its pretty annoying but looking on the Seek Thermal website this is normal and not a faulty unit ( which is what it sounds like! ). Also every time it clicks the image freezes just for a fraction of a second.2) Price! The Flir One is much cheaper.3) The Flir One has its own battery so don't drain your phone battery ( This is also a downside - see below )4) Flir One app is easier and more intuitive than the Seek Thermal app.Downsides of the Flir One vs the Seek Thermal Pro:1) The Flir One has a battery - which you need to keep charged up. I don't use the Flir One very often - so by the time I do the battery is often running low due to battery self discharge. The Seek Thermal Pro on the other hand is more convenient in this respect.I've not yet tried the Seek Thermal Pro at night but will do so and update the review.
