This is a quality product, at a reasonable price. Lid is made of a brittle plastic, possible poly carbonate, so likely to break if dropped or handled roughly. They have an adjustable ventilation hole in the lid, and extensive drainage holes in the base, with a rib structure to ensure water drains away even on a flat surface. In my case, this is a bit of a problem as I cultivate carnivorous plants that like their roots permanently wet. So I stand the propagator on a tray, to maintain the water level around the bottom of the pots. The size is ideal for a sunny window sill, but account must be taken of the drainage holes in the base. One other problem, if you have a cat, it may like to sleep on top.

This product is really well made with a greater height than other propagators which is much more useful as you can observe the seeds and cuttings grow rather than transplant as soon as they get a little height which most of the time will stunt the growth of the plant. As you can see I have the tray of mine in plastic as you get no tray where there are no holes hence the 4/5 stars, I feel like this is useful as people can then use plant pots and have a reservoir of water for emergency. Currently I am using mine to grow some aquarium leaves hence the plastic and why it is filled with water.

I am really impressed with the quality of these propagators. They're durable enough to last for years, even though they barely cost any more than the disposable propagators I bought last year. The tray is sturdy and flexible enough to avoid cracking under the weight of wet compost. The lid is nice and clear and can hold the weight of a large cat. Because it's taller than disposable ones, you can let the seedlings get a little bigger before transplanting. The handle on top can be turned to vent excess moisture/heat if needed. Best product of its kind I've seen, and a bargain at the price.

I like these Garland propagators, for their sturdiness. They may be more expensive than the thin black plastic things I've had before, but you can pick them up and move them without disturbing the contents, scrub them out etc for years and they still look good enough to have in your home. I have half a dozen mini-propagators and a heated one, and they all do the job, neatly. Yes, you can scratch the plastic if you are clumsy or clean them with a cloth full of grit, but a good wash under the tap is usually enough, and warm water with some disinfectant and a J-cloth will get rid of any algae that builds up in the corners. Always a good idea to keep things hygienic if you want healthy plants.

Great product, but from this supplier not well packaged so sent back

I bought a couple of these for starting off some seedlings. They were one of the cheaper ones. The reason, however, I went for these were the extra height. They are not a flimsy as some I have had in the past and unless you drop them I don't see what there is to go wrong. On a separate note all the packaging is recyclable and labelled as such. Ideally the seed trays would be made out of recycled plastic but hopefully that will come with time. Maybe Amazon should add a 'green' category as part of their reviews?
