RHS Flowers The Watercolour Art Pad

Bought this as a gift for my best friend who is beginning watercolour painting and loves flowers. She has found the book wonderful and said it’s full of inspiration and is also a very pretty book to just look through!Her daughter does flower arranging and also like the book!

This is a book of high quality. There is a very useful introduction with good advice on Botanical Painting. The main part of the book consists of flower drawings on vety good quality paper. You can complete these pictures in watercolour or coloured pencils or gouache , or any combination that you prefer. I work in pure watercolour and I loved the results. Ideal to take away on holiday for some relaxing down-time.

This is a gorgeous book and extremely well thought out. I will want to practice on inferior quality books before attempting this beauty as the quality is amazing. In my opinion it is well worth the money just for the tutorial on achieving the effects required. Sorely tempted to buy another!

This is a great book for the money. The paper is not great to paint on as it doesn’t take many washes.Don’t expect much instruction on painting or how to mix the colours.The illustrations and outlines are very detailed.Only for beginners if you are prepared to use it as a learning experience.

This would make a lovely gift for anybody with an interest in watercolor. It is so beautiful that I don't want to paint in it, which is silly because I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again! The pages for painting are a very high quality watercolor paper and even have the name of the flower printed on it for a professional finish.

Expected more demo flower examples.

I am a Botanical Artist, I have a Granddaughter who likes to follow in my footsteps, so I purchased this for her. Having received the Book, I think it may be a little too advanced for her just yet without extra guidance & a box of Artist Quality Paints (in suggested colour range) & some professional quality Brushes of her own. The book is beautifully illustrated with plenty of guidance on colours to use for the various flowers. There are plenty of pages of water colour paper with a very feint outline of various Botanical subjects printed on them so the user can concentrate on the getting the Painting correct rather than the drawing. A lovely book containing lots of info & guidance for someone who is very serious about wishing to progress into Botanical Illustration. Arrived on time & well packaged.

I purchased the first issue of this book and loved it. Great images, great tips and high quality cold press watercolor paper. This version from a new publisher (or maybe old publisher was purchased by this new publisher) has all the same images and text, but the paper is more like hot press paper or even thick marker paper. Old paper is a cream color with a nice texture. New paper is bright white and has NO texture. It's hard to tell exactly WHO is publishing these books as there are several names involved. I also purchased the Botanical Art version and the Birds version. Those also have the same paper inside. In fact, the covers of those books don't say watercolor paper...the say "Art paper inside"...So, just something to make note of. If you're expecting premium cold press watercolor paper, you'll be disappointed. I wish I had the ability to give this product 3.5 stars....

I wish I would read that review about the paper, that it was changed some time ago and not appropriate any more. Because it is not a paper for watercolors.So basically it’s impossible to use.

This book will introduce you to the world of watercolor techniques for botanical painting (wet on wet, wet on dry etc). It will also give you some space and advice to practice. Drawing complex flowers can be very difficult and so this is the advantage of this book. You have the drawing already, just need to add the color. Bearing in mind the price of quality paper, this is also ok priced product. The lines of drawing are very pale but you should get used to this if you want to proceed with this sort of watercolor painting.

Would be perfect if there was instruction for every artwork
