Excellent cheaper alternative
Given the price difference between these and the official HP cartridges they are nothing short of excellent. To be fair the packing is reasonably smart, the cartridges are all individually sealed. I thought from some of the reviews that I'd end up with messy, leaky cartridges that would spill everywhere. Nothing of the sort. The only issue is that when you install them the printer constantly reminds you they are not "official" HP cartridges. Just press a button to acknowledge that a few times and you're away.I know some people have commented on colour quality but - and this may be a matter of opinion - I'm not sure that photo printing by volume from these cheap printers is the most economical way to go anyway. I did a practice print and quality was fine.I believe there may be an issue with the computer not being able to tell you when the cartridges are running out but in the past (when using official cartridges) I've sort of ignored the computer's warnings anyway and usually got a few more prints out of them. As long as you have a spare set to hand it is no bother to install new ones when the printing starts to become faded. My only regret is that I didn't take the plunge and try these sooner.I suspect the ink quality is probably slightly inferior to official HP but because of the huge price difference (less than a third of the cost) I think 5 stars are merited.

Worth a try.
The colours all work perfectly but the black needs removing and reinserting to get the ink flowing. Mo complaints about the actual colour balance and printed results. Although very good value for large capacity, the instructions say to clean print heads before each use which probably wastes a lot of ink. Still likely to prove less expensive than the genuine ones which work perfectly but (as with all ink jets) are outrageously costly. They may as well give away the printers at these prices! I wouldn't use these cartridges for business critical work, but for the occassional family use they are worth trying.

I also like the fact you can see the ink level through ...
I had previously used non-manufacturer cartridges four years ago in an Epson printer & was plagued with blotchy & general unreliable quality. My current HP 5520 is well out of its warranty though and with printers now relatively cheap thought I might as well take a chance on aftermarket inks due to the high cost of original replacements. I am most pleasantly surprised! The print quality is indistinguishable from the original and it all worked first time as expected. I also like the fact you can see the ink level through the translucent plastic case, though they may not all be like this. The only downside is that every time I go to print, screen displays "counterfeit or used ink cartridge detected" but just close the window and it immediately prints away merrily. Considering I'm saving over £ 15 a set of inks, I can live with an irritating message. Conclusion : excellent value for money. Works with no hassle in my HP 5520. Print quality as good as original.

May not have received Colour Direct product - received
I have only given 3 stars because I have only installed the print cartridges today - time will tell how long they last and how long the print quality lasts, it is too soon yet to be able to tell. Although initial impressions of print quality are very good, I have no means of telling whether the cartridges I received are actually Colour Direct cartridges. My order arrived in a standard Amazon cardboardmailer, inside which was a plain white padded bag with no writing/label in it, which contained 4 loose cartridges each in cellophane wrapping but with no labelling on the cellophane or on the cartridges themselves; the only thing on the cartridges is ‘364XL’ and a letter on each cartridge to indicate the colour of ink it contains. There was no note of any sort inside the padded bag, so I am unable to determine whethere these are Colour Direct cartridges. When I inserted the cartridges (ensuring as usual that I heard a ‘click’ on inserting each one, my HP Photosmart 6520 initially would not recognise them, showing a message that one or more cartridges were damaged/missing. I did observe, when inserting them, that the cartridges appeared slightly smaller than my previous cartridges and HP own-brand cartridges. I removed and re-inserted the cartridges, but saw the same message about one or more cartridges being damaged/missing. I must have removed and re-inserted the cartridges 8 or 9 times at least, ensuring the cartridge chips and contacts in my printer were clean, but without success (seeing again the same message aboit one or more cartridges being damaged/missing), before deciding to have one more go - and this time my printer recognised them, I was able to then clean the print heads, perform a successful test print and print several documents I wanted to print. I am now concerned that, although the cartridges do now work, the slightest movement of the printer will disturb them and they will therefore no longer work. As said, I am concerned that I may not have received Colour Direct cartridges - the ones I received could be any non-major brand at all. For future cartridge purchases, I may revert to HP own- brand ink - despite the cost - because of my experience today and bad experience with another cartridge purchase (where the cartridges - of a brand I had successfully used for some years but where I noticed the packaging/labelling has changed - were so bad and did not work properlyat all that I had no choice but to throw them out, not being able to return them because personal circumstances mean I am not able to go out).
