If you enjoyed it in the 70's then just get a load of it now!!!
One of Michael York 's finest moments in my estimations.I loved this film the first time I saw it and to be totally honest, nothing has changed. if anything, my recollection of this film would have gotten a slightly lower rating (only a little, 4 stars probably) but I was enthralled from the opening scenes of this utopian future masterpiece, right through to the closing scenes! To elaborate slightly, I was 4 when this was released and probably about 7 when I first got to see it on TV. I remember being just blown away by the cinematics and the whole idea that you might only live to be 30 (honestly thought my life was nearly a 3rd gone!) The green fire spouting in 4 directions from the Sandman's weapons, the sultry female yet cold voice of the computer telling them all what to do and the very idea that you could just dial up a companion for the evening! Blew my 7 year old mind to pieces to be honest. You know what, it was brilliant the second time round and to just put this in perspective, I'm 46 now. If you're thinking it might not cut it now, I would suggest that you take a look. The set design is fantastic, as is the concept. It looks brilliant and is carried beautifully by the cast. Treat yourself, this is a great film!

One of my favourite films
I always liked this movie when I was a kid so just had to have it on disc when I noticed it. It may not be the last word in special effects now (though it's not bad) but still conjures up a dystopian alien future better than most of today's CGI obsessed productions. Great acting from Michael York and Jenny Agutter, not to mention Peter Ustinov. The scenes where they escape from the sealed city are memorable and exciting. A real classic.

“Black hair, I like Black hair” (Holly-13)
Logan's Run is a 1976 science fiction action film set in the year 2274, where the privileged remnants of human civilization live in a sealed city, a computer run utopia but, to prevent overpopulation, they undergo the rite of "Carrousel" at the age of 30 during which people are reborn. But what happens when a rebellious woman questions the existing order? The winner of numerous awards, the film was credited with reviving MGMs fortunes. Totally eclipsed by Star Wars the following year, it now seems somewhat dated and the prevailing idealised, clean, antiseptic visions of the future were soon abandoned for a grubbier Star Wars reality. Very much a 70s film this is in the vein of Planet of the Apes and The Omega Man and often feels like a movie version of TV series like UFO or Space 1999: and if you liked any of those, you’ll probably like this. The single disc opens to a screen offering play, scene selections, special features (commentary by various participants, vintage featurette and theatrical trailer) and languages (spoken English and English subtitles). Rated 12 this is now light viewing although there is mild talk of sex, T&A nudity (although portrayed in a non-erotic manner) and no swearing. Violence is present but is mainly in the ‘Buck Rogers’ and original Star Trek mode. Dated, but somehow gripping, this is definitely one to watch if you like SciFi.

Overlong, falls apart at the end, but looks good
Some spoilers. The first part of the movie is excellent. It looks good - ostensibly a paradise, which is actually a dystopia (a bit like the recent TV series - 'Brave New World'. Michael York and Richard Jordan are excellent as the cynical joking Sandmen who enjoy terminating runners, who don't want face the prospect of dying when they reach 30. Jenny Agutter is in her prime too, wandering around in skimpy costumes but given little to test her talent. It begins to unravel as a story when York is ordered to go undercover. Agutter's love for him seems a bit sudden, not least because he still has the Sandman's killer instincts. Then they reach the surface, which, unlike say the 'Time Machine', appears to only have one inhabitant and a lot of cats. Then there's the return to the city and a dodgy unconvincing computer 'does not compute' let's blow up the city scenario.A bit of a thick ear way to end what could have been a better film but one which still looks impressive and starts very well.

A Hedonistic Lifestyle until you are 30 then you’re terminated
A brilliant 1980’s Science Fiction film starring lean machine Michael York and a very sexy Jenny Agutter that I fondly remember when it first was shown at the cinema.. The city model looks a little dated as it’s scratch built rather than CGI, that said, the detail is amazing. The storyline is great though be warned, there are scenes of nudity during the mass orgy scene as the main characters escape through it. The weapons the Sandmen use are cool, firing small explosive projectiles to terminate runners who don’t want to die at 30.The ending is a little twee and it leaves the viewer wondering how the fleeing city occupants will fare in the brave new world outside the city domes.I recommend this film for nostalgia and an enjoyable piece of entertainment. 👍🏻

Classic Sci-Fi
This is very much of its time - but none the worse for it. Yes, you can spot the minor shortcomings of the models and the sets, but if you really want to moan about that your heart is in the wrong place. Michael York and Jenny Agutter are brilliant, and the story-line seems strangely more relevant as the Earth's population continues to become more and more unsustainable. A glimpse into an unwelcome future from a most welcome blast from the past . . .

An absolute classic ...
This film is horribly relevant to todays overcrowded world wherein the elderly are treated badly (if not treated - in hospital at least - at all). But in this films setting Old Age begins at 30 and the state then bumps you off to make room for more bright young things in flimsy pastel clothing. The SFX are dated in part, but the story is as good as any today, with the spectre of euthanasia stalking the films world just as much as it now haunts our own.

A classic Sci Fi movie from the mid 1970's
Absolutely love this film. I hope that Peter Craig doesn't stray too far from the script. Been waiting for a remake for years. I respect the director of the remake Simon Kinberg, so am really looking forwards to its release and will no doubt be purchasing it via Amazon.I wonder who they will cast as the Old man originally played by PeterUstinov. I also hope they include some of the original cast, but I doubt it.
