I bought this from the Toft shop, which is lovely, friendly and helpful. Due to this I probably had more desire to overcome difficulties.As a complete beginner I was bamboozled by the instructions. However, after emailing Toft for clarification and watching youtube clips for tips, I was set to go.After many days I completed it, although I feel more stuffing should be provided as it's a little to floppy and skinny.Sweet enough.

It says complete beginner on the front but is utterly impossible. The videos go very fast and use a completely different wool. The hook is too small. There's not part about this that is suitable for a complete beginner.

Lovely set. I’ve been crocheting for 2 months, am very much a beginner and I’ve really enjoyed making it.The videos on the Toft website are so clear and helpful.

I didn't buy this from Amazon but wanted to warn everyone that this is no way a beginners item. The hook supplied makes getting going virtually impossible and frustrating as it is too small to grab the wool provided. After watching the tutorial video for over 15 minutes I realised the person in the video was using a different thickness of wool and different hook which would explain why (apart from being a professional) it seemed so much easier for them to get going. If you want a beginners crochet set DO NOT BUY THIS. I'm returning mine.

I purchased this kit from a sewing show and I am extremely happy with it. Contrary to the overall negativity here I would say this is definitely suitable for beginners. I had no previous experience in knitting or crochet and I am about to complete the kit and already looking into purchase my next kit.The instructions provided are indeed insufficient for a complete novice to start but they have plenty of videos of crochet available online and there is always youtube. I would recommend you complete a square crochet piece with a double crochet stitch before you embark in the making of this to get used to what you need to do. Once you manage to do that relatively easily you should embark on this. The initial ring is probably the trickiest part of this pattern and prepares to get very frustrated over this the first times you do it. If you have anyone with crochet experience I would actually recommend you use them to get the first 3 rounds in so you will find the whole process a lot more enjoyable.And no the crochet hook is not too small. The reason the person on the videos is using the chunky wool and crochet hook it's so it is easier to see in the video
