Excellent equipment.
Bought these for a keen gardening friend. She is finding the ratchet action really helpful, very pleased with them & great value.

Great all rounder
I have many secateurs, including more expensive options from Nawaki and Lowe, but these have consistently out performed all other contenders - easy to use, great ratchet function that deals with a huge range of issues and comfortable to use. This and a pair of snips is all I need.

Saves on hand strain
After realising I’m not invincible and my hands aching and with an involuntary tremor for days i looked for a way of easing the effort needed and potential damage to my hands. A friend recommended these ratchet anvil secateurs so bought them. I usually use bypass secateurs which are superior for green and small stems as cut cleanly but I was struggling with the thicker woody shrub stems. First thing I noticed is the size of the throat is smaller on the ratchet ones so if cutting the max 20mm you need the handles fully open which is quite a stretch even if you have long fingers so initially it’s hard to get the leverage to start the cut which is a paradox as the bypass ones have a much larger throat capacity but can’t get through thick woody stems, but can be held towards a hand closed position with much better leverage/grip strength. On say 12mm woody stems these worked well with the ratchet clicking in, ease off and squeeze again which gets through a hard stem but means four squeeze release actions for one stem instead of one cut that follows through with the bypass ones but requiring a bit more umph. Overall I’m not sure how much I will use these. If my hand function declines then they will be a godsend but it will take longer and the need for four presses instead of one per cut could be fatiguing? Definitely of use with weakened or arthritic hands but the need to fully stretch fingers out to allow the max jaw opening for 20mm woody stems might be a problem for some? Weak hands but fantastic hand extension don’t usually go together so really recommended for smaller stems where the handles are already towards the closing position. They are lightweight but seem sturdy and the catch releases easily but to close need gripping with one hand and flicking the catch on with the other. If you only cut smaller softer green fresh stuff bypass secateurs are much better and less fiddly. I’ve also got some small S&J geared bypass loppers which are gentler on the hands as using both arms to cut and fantastic leverage but do sometimes mangle a cut. So maybe I will also get a geared pair of anvil loppers too!? I can also use a small pruning saw but then you are in the realms of swopping around lots of tools which wastes time and need to be carted around and chosen to take out in the garden in the first place.

A pleasure to use.
Amazing - even for arthritic hands. Whizzes through wood 20mm thick. A great buy.

Love love love these things!
If you’ve never tried a pair of ratchet secretors then you cannot understand just how hard you’re making your own life. These things are the best things since sliced bread. They can go through thick branches just buy a gentle ratchet. This makers stolen the design from Jardine de France who were useless with customer service. I’m so grateful that these are now available at a fraction of that price so I’ve just bought five.

Very sharp and easy to use.
Very sharp and efficient. Ideal secateurs for me as they have a ratchet which makes it very easy to cut the branches.

Good but......
On the face of it these are good secateurs with a decent ratchet action to get through larger items and using them is very impressive. However their strong selling point is also their weakness. They talk of the ease of releasing the clip holding them closed - you simply squeeze them together which is really good. On the downside if you have them in your pocket in the garden and bend down you find yourself with a pair of open secateurs in your pocket!

We had one pair before but it grew legs and left our residence, we HAD to get another pair. The ratchet makes it a snap to cut branches. (as long as you dont try to cut trees) :) Highly recommended tool! There is a larger version that has extended handle too, kind of one of those Lock cutters. have that too and love it too!

De schaar knipt vooral dikke takken prima vanwege de scherpte en vanwege de wijze van krachtoverbrenging maar daardoor is deze ongeschikt voor dunne takjes

Went for a search for a pair of secateurs to replace my mother's old pair of secateurs, coincidentally found the same ones she had online (this pair). High build quality, durable and efficient, the thing that broke on the last pair was the ratchet system (rivets I believe), but only after a solid 10 years of use. Would recommend.
