I have been looking for something to help me hear tv shows. Presently I have a Koss system that sends a signal to a set of ear phones. This works fairly well since I can increase the volume for me and not my wife. It still is not perfect since all it does is amplify. Often the background music overshadows the dialog. Also I have to turn it off to converse with my wife.This new device actually clarifies dialog! I keep it near me so I can adjust the volume while my wife keeps the tv volume where she needs it. It works really well. I use it with my hearing aids in so I don't need excess volume.

The device came well packaged. All of the components seem to be well made and high quality. The setup was straight-forward with the good instructions (even with an old CRT-style TV). I bought it because for me to be able to hear the television, especially some good PBS shows when people have accents, I had to have the TV volume so high it would bother my wife (a lot). I tried headphones. The wireless ones I had bought through amazon were not good as they picked up too much interference and would shut off anytime there was a period of silence from the TV program-unacceptable. The wired one worked, but in my particular case when I plugged them into the TV it was no longer possible to listen to the TV speakers as they were muted. Maybe I did something wrong(?). So I decided, with some trepidation, to buy these rather expensive TV Ears with separate speaker (also my audiologist recommended them). I love having the speaker sitting on the end table next to me. The quality of the sound from the speaker is very good. I can set the volume on the speaker so I can hear all shows well and my wife is not at all bothered by excessive TV volumes anymore. In fact, she has requested that I leave the speaker turned on all the time because she enjoys the "surround sound" effect. The only negative I can find is that you must have a direct line-of-sight between the infrared transmitter and the speaker. So I can't set anything on the speaker that would block the IR signal. For me this is a minor annoyance. So, based on my experience, I would recommend this product.

This is a tough review to write. I’ve been a happy owner of TV Ears for 4-1/2 years and it has worked perfectly using an optical cable. Last week is started working intermittently then yesterday it stopped working all together. My conversation with the tech person at TV Ears is the reason for my low score. I supplied the model of my TV Ears as well as my tv. He could not locate my Sony tv on whatever he was searching and decided that my TV Ears was not compatible with my Sony tv using an optical cable. I told him it had worked fine for 4-1/2 years and he continued to say it was not compatible with my Sony tv whose model number he couldn’t locate. His solution was to sell me a $7 cable for $21.00. This conversation left me really upset about this conversation and I will not recommend TV Ears to anybody.

Do NOT waste your money or time on this worthless product. I tried everything the booklet said to do and could not get it to work. I called my T V manufacturer and bought what they thought I needed (as was suggested in the "TV Ears" booklet). Still could not get it to work. I called "TV Ears Company" and was put on hold (while music played), then after 30 minutes of saying "a friendly representative will be with you shortly" - I was disconnected. I tried this on three different days. All three times - after a long wait - I was disconnected. I finally got through to a person when I called the "make a TV Ears purchase" (of course...they answered). She attempted to help me because the "TV Ears Technical Support" was overloaded (which tells you a lot right there). She tried to help, but only ended up causing my television picture and sound to go out completely. I called a local television specialist to come fix my T. V. (at a high price I had to pay). He could get my picture and sound back on...but even he could not get the "TV Ears" to work. I give up. I'm sending the TV Ears back for a refund. I cannot stress enough...DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

this is the third speaker we have purchased either through Amazon or from TV Ears directly. With all of our schedules our TV and the speaker is on almost 24/7. We aren't looking for movie theater quality audio, we can't hear well enough to appreciate that sort of nuanced audio. We like the quality of sound on the TV Ear Digital Wireless Speaker, it's better than the speakers in our TV, and we don't need to have it as loud to hear it comfortably since we have the speaker near our chairs.

This is my second purchase of this soundbox. My husband has been using TV ears for many years but i noticed my hearing could use some help so a year ago I bought the soundbox for myself. We keep the volume on the actual TV at "0". Now that we have two of them, one soundbox is on the end table where I sit and the newer soundbox is on end table where hubby sits. We each control our own soundbox. Sometimes he uses his and sometimes doesn't need. Both boxes add volume to the entire room that help with sound when additional guests join us to watch TV. The sound is clear and only sometimes have static, probably because the box has to be adjusted with a better view toward digital system. We currently use only one digital system for both soundboxes. I would have preferred purchasing the second one without the digital system but this was not an option. Note: There is no rating for remote control because we do not use one to control sound. The box has a knob to control sound.

What a fantastic product, this allows us to hear the voices on tv programs above the overly loud so called mood music. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to understand what is being said even when the music is loud. The reception of the signal from the transmitter to the remote speaker is excellent no time lag at all. The quality of the sound gained from the speaker is exceptional you can also vary the bass to your liking. Over all I would give this 10 stars out of 5 thank you.

Great customer service and great product, ensure you use the correct plugin switching adapter in the correct component as one is longer than the other and will not fit without popping back out.
