Tango, plus some Foxtrot and Bossa Nova
I'll come right out and say it - this has always been one of my all time favourite albums, since it came out when I was fifteen. I know every note of every song far too well. So I was very curious to hear this.To consider the remastered version of the original disc... to be honest, the difference in sound from my previous CD is minimal, you would have to listen quite carefully to notice any improvement. I think the bass sounds clearer and punchier. The well known hits are all there: Big Love, Little Lies, Everywhere, and around them are the equally great tracks that made this album second only to Rumours in the Fleetwood Mac canon.Backing this up is the second disc with B sides, demos and alternate versions. As with the Rumours and Mirage equivalents, the material is patchy, ranging from "wow!" through to "interestingly different" through to "filler". With most of the alternative versions you will be glad they dropped them in favour of the final cut, although there are some real gems here - the instrumental version of Mystified is just lovely and B-side Down Endless Street is perfect catchy pop. We also find the seeds of Stevie Nicks' next solo project being sown, with Ooh My Love (same lyrics as the finished version but completely different tune) and a rocking version of Juliet which sounds like a drunk Stevie travelled back in time to drop in on the band circa 1972, before the gloss of 80's synthesizers showed up. Speaking of which, the alternate version of Isn't It Midnight is stunningly different - the vocal melody stays the same but the guitars are replaced with keyboards, and the whole chord sequence of the chorus is changed, totally removing the menacing feel of the original and turning it into nightclub fluff.Overall, a worthwhile purchase if you are interested in the evolution of the songs and something of a completist and already own the original album. If you don't own Tango In The Night at all? Then get it!

One of the best 80s albums ever!!!
Well, after a long wait we finally have a remaster/reissue of the majestic Tango In The Night.I've waited for this reissue for so long....but was it worth the wait? For me, this has always been my favourite FM album. It's hard to believe it is already 30yrs old and I can remember it being a bestseller throughout 1987/88. It even hit the #1 spot 3 times & it's clear to see why. This 2 disc set contains the original, now remastered album on disc 1 and a set of demos, outtakes etc on disc 2.The original album was so well produced and mixed that to me, it would be hard to improve on. However, the remaster does sound slightly brighter & crisp. Some of the backing vocals and instruments that are low in the mix seem to come through more.As for the actual songs: 6 of the 12 songs here were released as singles! That says it all really. The quality of the songwriting really is top class, although if you read between the lines you can see this is mainly down to Lindsey & Christine's contributions. As for disc 2...well, there are some rare gems here for fans but nothing to attract the casual buyer. If you don't own this album already then buy it!! It really is a blockbuster of an album.

Timeless.
I, like everyone I guess, only had the original 87 cd which, though great at the time, has only been sonically lacking given the more recent cds available and technology moving on rapidly. Each play of said cd required significant raising of the volume after playing a newer cd. Then after recent remasters of Fleetwood Mac (75), Rumours, Tusk and Mirage, my hopes of TITN finally following suit were proven assured ! A stunning remaster where every vocal and instrument is clean and clearer. If you have the other nicely packaged remasters then this is essential. Hopefully we get Behind The Mask next as my cd skips !

Two To Tango
Tango In The Night was definitely a brilliant 'come back' album in 1987. There's not one track that isn't high quality. It's great to have this extended album of alternate versions and some remixes. If you loved 'Tango' the first time round then you'll love this version too. Fave tracks have to be Stevie Nicks' Seven Wonders, Welcome To The Room Sara, When I See You Again. Christine Mcvie Isn't It Midnight, Everywhere, Mystified and Lindsay Buckingham, Caroline, You And I and the title track Tango In The Night 😀
