Awesome product !!!
After much research into hand cranked sharpeners I went for this one and have not been disappointed. It does not come with, nor does it need, a desk clamp as the extendable arms hold the pencil firmly in place allowing you to hold the top of the sharpener with one hand and turn the crank with the other. The resulting super-long point is brilliant and the mechanism stops automatically when the pencil is sharpened - a feature that not all sharpeners have. This prevents unnecessary shortening of the pencil. The other great feature is the rubber grip which holds the pencil in place whilst it is being sharpened. Many other sharpeners have metal grips which leave small holes along the pencil shaft which can be quite unsightly. The rubber grips on the Mitsubishi avoid this problem. This is a little more expensive than some other sharpeners, but in my opinion, well worth paying the extra few pounds.

My best rotary sharpener.
This is an excellent sharpener. The manufacturer does not supply a bracket to fit it to your tabletop but, as one reviewer remarked, the plastic construction might not take the stresses required for such fixing. I am perfectly happy to use this sharpener by holding it down with one hand and cranking with the other. The sharpening mechanism produces a lovely long point (the longest point I have obtained with any rotary sharpener), which is what I have been looking for. It has two settings for making either a needle-sharp point, or one which is slightly blunt (ideal for softer pencils, especially colour pencils). On the handle side, the shavings tray at the bottom has a little window so that you can see when you need to empty it. The sharpener has a rubber base so that it does not slip when you hold it down to use it. It is possible to use the sharpener on your lap or thighs if you are careful. My best rotary sharpener, at a reasonable price for the quality.

Sharpens to a long, sharp point and does not mark or chew my pencils. love it.
This Mitsubishi Manual Pencil sharpener is perfect for sharpening pencils to long, sharp points. I have used it on Polychromos, Prismacolour, Albrecht Dürer, Daler-Rowney, and Museum Aquarelle. The sharpener is black plastic with a rubberized pad underneath to prevent slipping. There is no way to fix it to the table, but it is easy to hold while using it. I love the fact that pencils are firmly held and unmarked during sharpening. I am proud of my pencils and do not want them to look blemished and tatty. I have given five stars because, as a pencil sharpener, it does a really good job. However, the plastic does feel a little tacky and lightweight, and the method of emptying is a little clumsy and not very convenient. The handle has to be removed at every emptying, where I think that a removable drawer would have been better. That being said, it is only my point of view and should not put anyone off buying this sharpener; you may feel differently. I am happy to recommend it and would buy it again.

Best helical sharpener ever
Best sharpener Ever. Is quite a big unit and feels very plasticy and cheap, however this one is my work horse, while I have had issues with all of my others this one keeps going regardless. Probably my most expensive sharpener but definitely my best. I use it on polychromos pencils, luminance, derwent light fast and they all fit beautifully. Huge shaving drawer so I rarely have to empty it. This Sharpener gets terrifying points on the pencils... Like mini spears!!! It also has rubber Jaws so your pencils don't get marked which I know a lot of people don't like.

Good but made in China not Japan
Plastic but seems good quality and works well. Less likely to dent than sheet metal. Longer straight point compared to Helix which makes an equally sharp but concave point. Slightly larger than Helix. No desk clamp included. Rubber teeth to grip pencil without marking it. All good but I was expecting a Japanese import to be made in Japan - this has Made in China on it.

Better than the metal alternatives – consistent and reliable.
After returning a different brand for being inconsistent and poorly made, I’m thrilled with this Mitsubishi. Don’t let the plastic body fool you; it is significantly more robust and better engineered than the metal sharpener I replaced. It does exactly what it's supposed to do every single time. My only minor complaint is the lack of an instruction manual. I had to figure out the features through trial and error—for instance, the small red button on the handle adjusts the type of point (standard vs. blunt). It doesn’t come with a desk clamp, but the unit is stable enough that I don't miss it. While it’s manufactured in China rather than Japan, the quality control is excellent. Highly recommended for anyone tired of "rubbish" sharpeners.

Good for drawing pencils, not so good for office pencils.
If you sharpen the hay-uni or TomBow mono 100 with this sharpener, an excellent pointy tip is produced. If you sharpen Mitsu-Bishi or TomBow office pencils, the result is less satisfactory, as these pencils have a much narrower core, and are not designed for drawing. I actually managed to snap the tip of a Mitsu-Bishi 9800 in the sharpener. I obtain better results for these using a Helix A5. I bought the device to use for drawing pencils. I removed the light scratches on the finish with ScratchX 2.0 and a microfibre cloth. This cannot take a Faber-Castell Albrecht Duerer Magnus, while the Helix A5 -standard and jumbo point- can.

Gives you a long, sharp point and no tooth marks.
This works brilliantly, giving you a long, sharp point. And it doesn't leave tooth marks in your pencils. There's a button on the back that allows you to stop sharpening before the point becomes lethal - presumably if you're sharpening pencils for kids. The base has a sticky rubber surface, but there's no way to fix it down, so you'll end up putting your hand on top when sharpening. The sharpener is an attractive object, as well as being functional.

This is a great pencil sharpener that produces super pointy tips on pencils. When the pencil is done sharpening, the resistance in the handle drops and no more material is removed after that, so you don't waste your pencils unnecessarily. The sharpener can be easily disassembled for cleaning. The container for shavings is very large. No clamp to attach it to a desk was provided, even though there's a hole for it in the body of the sharpener.
