In the box is says Lifetime warrenty, is that correct?

In the UK the lifetime warranty is honoured by Hama UK. You need to return the item at your own cost and pay £5 for return postage and handling. I just returned my headphones for the second time in 9 years - first time the plug became temperamental and this time one of the units stopped working. They don't repair, they send replacement.

Are these headphones suitable for heavy metal music (thrash/progressive metal in particular)?

Hi ElvenLord : Sorry, I'm too old to give a specific answer for that genre. I can report on excellent results with old school such as Dark Side of the Moon and Tangerine Dream "The Sorcerer" but make sure your playback has a graphic equaliser app or feature. Also be aware that the range of size headband adjustment is ok but not marvellous.

Do I get the Koss lifetime warranty, if i buy these from you as oppose to the home site?

Hama offer repairs in the UK and will do it under the lifetime warranty... I think you just need proof of purchase and a £5 handling charge

are these suitable for a kindle fire?

Yes they work fine with my own kindle fire hd (2nd generation) as they both use 3.5mm stereo jack. This also means they will support most devices such as MP3 players and mobile phones.
