Incredible lens for the price
This lens should not be used for video as the autofocus system sucks. That being said, you wont find a better lens for the price. Bokeh is beautiful. Images are a bit soft when wide open but still one of the nicest looking lenses I have. If you want a cheap 50mm prime get this lens. Its so cheap that you could buy 3 for the equivalent lens from canon!

Great lens for the money (but a little noisy)
I'm using a Canon EOS 750D and wanted this lens to compliment the standard kit lens for some (amateur) portraiture photography.Good Points- Great value at £40!- Doesn't feel too cheap or flimsy, the plastic body seems sturdy enough- Picture quality is greatBad Points- There is no STM motor, so autofocus is a little noisy / clunky. Still works perfectly, but I wouldn't use this lens for video- It doesn't have the same quality feel when fitting the lens (to be expected, for the money)Seems like a no brainer for the money, especially if you're just learning or having a bit of fun.

Great lens for beginners
I'm a massive newbie when it comes to photography and even I'm very proud of the photos which I have managed to achieve with this lens. This is a great lens for close up photography or for achieving easy bokeh effects, I do find the auto-focus to be very slow even in direct sunlight and the manual focus is different with it being a small lens and there isn't a lot to grip to - for this reason It is a 4 out of 5 stars. The lens does have a plastic build, which can feel cheap compared to other brands but as long as you're not clumsy this shouldn't be an issue.Pair this lens with a lens filter such as CPL or UV and you will make great shots. Amazon won't let me upload my edited pics as they contain my watermark but I can assure you photos taken with this lens will look great even with a simple edit. I have added an unedited shot taken of my car with a CPL filter.

Quality fantastic
Fantastic 50 mm I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the pictures and would say it was worth every penny. Considering it’s not top of the range lens the quality is worth every penny. I wish I could find one in as soon even a long lens at those prices specially with the quality you get. By it a must.

Cheap and cheerful
At half the price of the current canon 50mm I gave this lens a go. The results were not bad but auto focus was a little disappointing in its lack of consistency. Some times a shot would be pin sharp another would just be slightly off. I you have the cash for the Canon then it makes sense. This feels half the value in the hand. If you are strapped for cash and can put up with the sometimes inconsistent focus then I would recommend.

excellent lens for the money.
This lens was a 3rd of the cost of the Canon 50mm Prime but the build is great, the picture quality is superb and for a little over £40 you can't go wrong. AF is a little loud but I use MF 99% of the time.

One disappointing design failure, filters do not fit on it
I'm very happy with this lens, it has great value for money, but has one (in my view, inexcusable) design flaw.I wanted to fit a Hoya Polarising filter to this lens, however the thread at the front of the lens for fitting this filter to is recessed too far into the lens, so the thread of the filter can't meet the thread of the lens. This could have been so easily avoided by having the thread on the lens continue to the front of the lens, but instead it's unnecessarily recessed inwards.Disappointing.

Good economic alternative
I have to say that I would have bought the Canon version but simply couldn't afford it. My other lenses are zooms and I had a need for a larger aperture lens for ambient light shots and this seemed to fit the bill. It works well and the AF function works as well as any Canon or Sigma lens I have previously used. I'm quite pleased with this lens and it has a permanent place in my camera bag. I've added a UV filter to protect the front element and just need to get a hood for it now.

Il me suis absolument partout.
