This depends on the weight of the plates. You'd fit more half kg plates on than 10kg plates

What lenth is the bit where the weights go onto please?

Hi, just measured it for you! The threads where you position weights at both ends of the bar are 195mm in length - but you need to allow for the 20mm wide steel nut to secure the weights on. Therefore the total space for weights at either end is 175mm
