Works well if you crush the ice first....
What is there not to like about this classic toy? Well, one thing is how poor it is at crushing ice. I wanted to get already crushed ice to use with it since I was too convinced it would cope with cubes. Unfortunately all I could get was cubes. I gave it go with my 8 year old and had to admit defeat after a few minutes of worthless handle turning. No pressure on the plunger (snowman hat) and the cubes just skate round inside. Put enough pressure on the hat to do any good and the handle won't turn. I therefore used an electric blender to crush up the cubes and put that in the snowman. Now with a bit of cranking the handle my 8 year old got crushed ice out the bottom. Cheating? Maybe, but a lot less frustrating. Otherwise everything is fine and great for a bit of messy ice food action. Hence I still give it 5 stars.

Childhood nostalgia: awful but fun toy!
I bought this toy as a gift for my partner after a conversation about favourite childhood toys. It turned out he has never had a mr frosty so I surprised him with one. All the pieces as shown in the image and description were provided in the box. We made ice cubes in fruit shapes and small ice lollies. We quickly realised how awful and flimsy the toy actually is. And how it requires what feels like a days labour to turn the handle to shred the ice, how could a small child do that?! Our parents must have done it in the past. Needless to say we all had a laugh and a joke and enjoyed our tiny pile of ice shards. I think in future we will stick to the blender for ice drinks!

Its harder work than I Remember.
I had one myself as a child and have fond memories, so bought this for my daughter. She is 7 though my 12 year old son uses it too. I don't remember as a child needing any help with it, but this is quite difficult to turn the handle. Even I struggle. Not sure if maybe it is because i get my ice from the ice dispenser on my fridge, and maybe this is colder and harder than using an ice tray in the freezer. Anyway, I have to crush the ice for the kids which is a bit of a pain. I did then have a brain wave and thought, what if i just put the ice in my little nutri-bullet blender. Well, it does exactly the same thing with no effort, but i guess that takes the fun out of it. That said, you could just use a blender. The product itself though is as described and like i remember it.

Great toy
I bought this for my daughter as she reminded me that she had wanted one as a child, I don't know why we never got her one. Anyway, I bought it for her as a joke surprise and her face lit up, she's 32. Lol

Looks good but be warned it's a big effort for a small slushy!
Love the idea of this, but unfortunately it's very difficult to grate the ice for an adult, let alone my 5 year old. Takes a lot of effort to get a small amount of slush which melts quite quickly. It's best to put 1 ice cube in at a time & not push down too hard. Looks good but we have a chill factor slushy cup which is much better. Glad I didn't pay full price.

Poor product - poorly made
This Mr Frosty is not worth buying - it can not crush or shred any ice it is plastic and cheap and feels like it will break at any moment. We can not get it to make an ice cone unless you have over an hour to try and crush the ice - gave up and used ice in the bag and a rolling pin much more effective! Am very disappointed in this product would not advise to buy just not worth the time or the disappointment especially if buying for a child as I did

Blast from the past!
This is brilliant! I was so happy when son added this to his Christmas list as I always wanted one as a child. It's really easy to use and maked perfect little slushies. We freeze the water for about 30 mins so that it isn't too frozen and hard to crush, that way it's easy for my 8 year old to turn with out any help. We just use a few drops of concentrated juice to add flavour.

grandkids love it
purchased for the kids to mess with making there own slush type things & they love it.little tip for users is to break the ice a little (i wack it with a rolling pin) so the kids can crush the rest easier in the machine.

Needs a lot of force and effort to grind ice unless it’s almost melting. Kids will need an adult to do it for them. Get an electric one even though they cost a lot.
