Update: 6 months in and while less vibrantly lavender, these are still working. Lost them last week, so have immediately and happily replaced them!I am a spin class instructor: while I don't have smelly feet, the moment my cleats got rainwater in them, they started to hum - I tried washing them, new insoles, nothing worked! These now live in my cycle shoes when I'm not wearing them - the smell has gone and not yet returned (I have had them for about 1 month, and there has been rain). I only take them out when I wear my spin shoes, and I pop the bananas in whichever shoes I've worn to the gym, so my trainers are benefiting from better drying and the lavender scent too.They have discoloured quickly - gone brown from where they touch my cleats, but as a banana, that seems only right!They are a touch on the heavy side, but that's probably not something most people need to worry about if these will live in your shoe rack at home.

Edit: After an average to poor review that I left, the founder of boot bananas got in touch and said they had some defective packaging in a small run of their product that caused the item to develop faults before they arrived. To rectify this he sent me out a new set of the boot bananas without being asked to. They arrived promptly and in good order. I've been using them for a week or two now and they are holding up well with no signs of the immediate discolouration that the first set had. So I think he was right and the original set were faulty; I'd recommend the product on its own as the smell is excellent but the amazing customer service put them over the top for me, would definitely recommend.Original Review: I’d like to preface this review by saying it’s possible my shoes are particularly potent, however after just one use in my golf shoes the bananas went mostly a light shade of brown ( a sign that they’re used up) so I left them in a warm dry area as the instructions say - this did little to help the problem. They developed a white powder like substance on them. I’ve continued to use them in my golf shoes and I do enjoy the scent of them but I’m unsure how effective they are after their premature browning

Does the job, had it for about a month now, no real issues, just not a fan of the smell of the actual item. Its just a personal preference, otherwise great product to keep the funky smell away.

I use them in my squash shoes that are used 3-4 times each week and even though the fragrance of the bananas disappeared after only a couple of weeks, they are super effective at neutralising shoe odours.My shoes always go straight back in my bag after each game, and before using these, my bag would smell next time I opened it. With these, there is no smell at all.Bananas don't look particularly pretty anymore and they are quite firm now, but still doing their job 3 months on.

Smelly shoes boots bought these for football boots and really does help I have tryed everything else to combat the smell helps with the freshness

Good.I had a few days off from work so I put the boot bananas in my work boots for 4 days straight, where they worked hard to very slowly neutralize an old, disgusting smell.I am a bit worried that the bananas have become discoloured after a single use, perhaps I got a bad batch?Overall recommended.UPDATE 2 WEEKS ON:Mold has grown on the bananas and they have become even more discoloured. I genuinely cannot imagine these lasting 2 months, much less the advertised 6 to 12 months. Not recommended at their current price point. If the price was halved, say £7, then they would be worth it. Not so at close to £17.UPDATE 3 WEEKS ON:I received a message from the seller explaining the item and its intended use and have realized I wasn't using the bananas as intended - If used in sweaty work boots, they're meant to be used in conjunction with their boot dryers, to avoid the bananas being oversaturated by sweat. Review moved to 5 stars due to attentiveness and professionalism of seller.

** Update **. Seller kindly sent replacement product, informing that there has been issues with a single batch of these. Happy to report the replacements worked perfectly and no signs of deterioration after a few uses - very happy.We’ve been struggling with the stench of our sons various boots for a number of seasons and have tried multiple ways to freshen them up with no real success.After seeing this on Amazon, thought we’d give them a go.Good news is - they really helped with the smell and although not completely gone, they’re definetly smelling a lot fresher and not causing the whole family to wretch whenever son opens his boot bag.The not so good news - after 2 hours in my sons boots, both bananas have now started to turn with brown dots appearing over them. Boots were slightly damp, but not overly wet when used so a bit disappointed as don’t see how these are now going to last the time claimed in the advertising.Overall, a great idea and seems as though they are effective at addressing the smell issue. However, if they need to replaced this often then it’s going to come very costly.
