SEEMS COMPLICATED BUT IT REALLY IS EASY,MEASURE THE HEIGHT OF THE TANK THEN PUSH THE RELEVANT PINS ON THE RECEIVER ACCORDING TO THE GIVEN CHART ,PLUG IN AND HOLD THE RECEIVER NEXT TO THE OTHER PART TILL IT BEEPS THEN GO SCREW THE OTHER PART ONTO THE TANK .ALL DONE . THESE LAST SEVERAL YEARS AND ARE ROBUST ENOUGH TO WITHSTAND THE WEATHER.

Great second 1 - I bought it for it parents

I had an old style Watchman Plus, with wire antennae, power tube and bund sensor spiky ball. After 6 years it was displaying "r" error messages on the receiver plug. Changing 4 x AAA batteries in the copper power tube (it's just a piece of pipe where you can knock the end off, don't pay for a new one!) solved the problem, but only during the initial 10 minute radio link up, so something else was at fault. Starting again with a completely new unit seems to be the best answer. The red alarm version mimics the bund sensor in case the inner tank leaks, and it fits quickly into the old inner tank hole and transmitter screw holes. The "sound reflection" technology looks the same as the old Watchman, but now there is no plastic tube dipping into the tank. Only time will tell the battery life, but at least it is easier to install new batteries.

We have already suffered (but caught in the act) a Heating Oil theft and were not terribly happy with the rather erratic performance of the battery operated remote sensor alarm that the Police subsequently sold to us, although it is still in use. This well thought out little Watchman Sonic Alarm device does exactly what it 'says on the label' and being a Theft Alarm as well as a Contents Indicator is a big and more reliable improvement on our earlier 'Probe style' contents level gadget. The instructions are pretty good and the Watchman was very easy to fit apart from the need to enlarge the original 'probe hole' in our 10 year old plastic tank. It worked immediately and has proved to be totally consistent so far. The long battery life is appreciated. Rather strangely the instructions included in the pack fail to mention the siren trial facility which is mentioned in the online pdf version. Our own trial of the siren worked well although we thought the sound was not loud enough to be heard in any room remote from our bedroom. Fortunately that bedroom is a good place to receive the Watchman signal. At first we felt the Watchman was maybe a bit vulnerable to unauthorised removal until we realised that such an act would also trigger the siren. This device is a great idea which targets significant loss of oil through leakage or theft actually where it happens. We no longer lose sleep listening for noises in the night.

Easy to install. Only fitted a few weeks ago but seems to be working.

Great for assessing oil use without testing from the oil tank more user friendly for older people

This does exactly what it says and was easily fitted in to replace a very old equivalent. I hope when it comes to the time when the battery needs charging that it is as easy as it says. A bit worried that it says breaking the seal shortens the life. The phrase 200m line of sight a bit misleading as seems to be radio linked and a wall is between my sensor and the display.
