There were a couple of issues. The one we received was bent on one side which kept the sections from aligning when it was opened flat. I had to use a lot of pressure to straighten out the dented area so that it would align with the other half. It had several scratches. It sags in the middle by the hinge. This design problem could be alleviated by a latch on one side to keep both sides aligned when not being folded opened. We didn't use it on a steam pan, we used it on a griddle, so we don't know how it would function on a steam pan. It functions fine for the purpose for which we ordered it, which was to cover the 21-in griddle that did not come with a lid.
