A worthy successor to the original RE4
When Capcom first revealed back in 2022 they were planning to remake of the most influential video games of all time there was undoubtedly going to be some concern. At first I was of those who didn't think RE4 needed a remake compared to RE2 and RE3, instead assuming we would get Code Veronica next as that installment hasn't aged well and definitely deserves it more but after playing the Chainsaw Demo first I can really understand why they chose to remake Resident Evil 4 next.I enjoyed playing the old RE4 back it was released on the Wii with the extra PS2 content (Separate Ways campaign, Ashley armor and Mafia Leon) and the HD version on PS4 and it still remains as my personal favorite Resident Evil game besides RE2 Remake. I glad this version went for a more grounded, more intense horror setting as it feels more in lined with the recent remakes while still keeping the spirit of the classic GameCube 2004 game including the iconic bingo line, fun quips and certain iconic set pieces like the cabin fight. I also enjoy the new mechanics that justifies improving the stiff tank controls from the old version which I didn't mind as it worked well before with that particular game design back in early 2000s but definitely way more snappy to turn and aim while moving today. The improved enemy ai is much more aggressive thanks to these changes which makes this game tougher even on Standard difficulty but once you adjusted the options and choose how to craft your weapon ammo or grenades for the right combat situation you should be able to do fine. I also really dig the village and castle expanded with new paths that lead to hidden treasure to collect and bonus side missions you can complete to earn spinels that you can trade to the merchant for bonus goodies. The island of course got trimmed down which I see as major improvement over the original which had some filler that I don't mind being cut and replaced. My only major gripe is that it lacks Separate Ways and as of the time of this review posted Ada and Wesker from The Mercenaries DLC which is free to download. I know the original campaign was kind of like extra paid content when it was released first exclusively for PS2 but it undermines the value of the basic package though not by much as the base campaign fortunately is long and there is an extra content shop where you can spent points earned from various challenges thus encouraging more replayability.

Great game! I wish the base game included separate ways (now is a DLC), and it arrived on time.

Solid Update of a Timeless RE Classic
One of the best video games ever gets a killer update. There are only some minor missing details and tweaks to the original story that kind of let me down, but overall I really enjoyed the game play, the graphics, and reliving a great story.

Another Great RE Game
Well, IMO this contemporary remake of RE4 seals the series' status as one of the best in survival horror. As I write this review, I am about halfway through the game, and I've been playing for hours!I used to find survival horror games too frustrating because you had to ration ammo and resources very carefully. As an action/adventure enthusiast, I much prefer mowing down scary creatures rather than running away from them!So I'm pleased to report that the "Assisted" setting here -- the least challenging -- is perfect for a player like me.Yes, I still get killed from time to time, but I don't have to backtrack endlessly to stock up on weaponry, ammo, or health.Otherwise, the updated graphics are stunning, the controls spot on, and the environments huge and detailed. You also encounter a fascinating variety of foes, from cult-worshipping townsfolk to twisted religious leaders to virus-infected creatures in all shapes and sizes. So if you would like to enjoy a survival horror game that plays like an action/adventure game, look no further: RE4 is the real deal...UPDATE: just when I thought this game couldn't get any more enjoyable, I reached the scenes in the mine where you ride mine carts, shooting at bad guys, flying over jumps, leaning to keep the cart on the rails around turns, and shooting at switches to shift the rails and avoid crashing. WHOO HOO!!! And there are still a number of chapters ahead of me...
