Tumi Latin American CraftsTumia LAC Panama Hat - Rollable - Cream with Black Ribbon 60cm

I have been the proud owner of a 100% tequillo Panama hat for the last 8 years after being purchased from M&S. The hat has accompanied me all over the world on vacations and it has always looked as good as the day it was made even after it has been put in suitcases. As it is now showing slight signs of wear with a small split in the straw around the crown, I have decided to replace it with a new Panama hat. On being handed the cardboard box containing my new Tumi genuine handwoven Fedora Panama hat I began to wonder if there was in fact a hat inside the box, and someone had possibly forgot to pack it, due to the unbelievable lightness of the package. On inspection the hat was like receiving an original Leonardo or Van Gogh painting. It was protected by paper and its sheer quality, mystifying beauty and workmanship shone through even before I removed the hat from the box. It fitted perfectly at 60cm and it was hard to think that I had a Fedora hat on my head due to its incredible lightness.I am so grateful to these highly skilled artisans in Equador whose skills and attributes have allowed these beautiful headpieces to flourish since the early 1500s. I am sure that my new Panama will give me many years of comfort, style, and protection in worldwide destinations still awaiting visiting by my wife and myself.

I ordered the hat to take to Hong Kong as part of wedding ensemble and was delighted with the look, feel and weight of the hat when it arrived. Made from natural material it was bright white - as expected. It is soft to touch and of exactly the shape I wanted - a sort of fedora style. As I was flying I also bought a carrying tube and with some trepidation rolled that hat - as per the included instructions - and packed it all in my suitcase. On arrival I removed the hat and unrolled. Within a few hours the hat had returned to its original shape all by itself. There was one slight crease as a result of the folding however this too disappeared by itself within a couple of days. The hat itself was a great success at the wedding - being very comfortable and light to wear. Being a natural woven product some air circulation helps keep the head cool. For the return I rolled again and have just got home and am now waiting for the hat to return to its original shape.I really recommend the hat for its style and quality together with the service and advice offered by the supplier. I supplied measurements when ordering and the hat has proven to be a good fit.

I have just returned from a holiday in the sun, and bought this hat in the hope it would travel well and keep the sun off without me getting too hot and sticky under it. It passed with flying colours - it regained its shape almost perfectly over night after having it rolled in my luggage, was comfortable and effective, and even (according to my wife) is the first hat I've warn that looks good on me! It did blow off in a strong gust of wind, and would benefit from an optional string to keep it in place, but otherwise I'm very pleased.

The hat itself is wonderful. However with only light wear, and no special treatment (no folding or rolling or anything), the crown had a crack in it fairly early, and after a year of owning it (and only wearing it in hot, sunny weather) the edges are already unraveling in two places. For the money I paid for it, I would have expected a LOT more usage out of this. Disappointing, as it's otherwise a great hat to wear.

Very soft comfortable fit and beautifully made (I have trouble finding hats in my size - Tumi have 2 sizes larger than mine!) This is my 2nd hat from Tumi, having badly damaged my first one during a water festival and it's almost more comfortable than the first (if that's possible). I have a medical condition requiring me to stay out of the sun and the size and shape of this hat provides good protection for my whole head, ears, nose and neck. My one concern about this hat is its longevity. The pinch at the front is sharper than in the photo and looks like it might damage the material. It certainly protected my head against some hot Italian sun.

Wore it for the duration of my holiday. VERY Sadly it never made it home due to the fabric splitting on the top in several places. I was too late to return it as I ordered it quite far in advance for my holiday.

So far so good. Just got the hat so as yet it hasn't yet earned a comment on the test of time. It is stylish though, fits perfectly and looks well made. This hat is to replace a previous panama (not the same manufacturer - but a well known one), an expensive one that split in a couple of places after not considerable usage - so not very impressed. Wait and see with this one - fingers crossed. Pleased up to now.
