Brennenstuhl Automatic cable reel for wall or ceiling mounting (9+2m retractable cable, robust plastic casing, electrical rewind, slewable up to 180°)

Some reviews have moaned about this product so I purchased it with some reservations. I needn't have worried. My unit is well built, easy to install and has no problem with unexpected 'spring back'. I simply don't understand the issue with the amount of cable on the plug end as this can easily be hooked up and hung from a hook using the eye on the front of the unit. Overall very happy with this. Feels well built and that it will last. Am using in my workshop and find it great for quick access to 13amp power. Highly recommended.

I bought 2 of these for my workroom as i was very aware of the trip hazard when using standard extension leads. We fitted one to each side of the room, worked out the distances required for the maximum lead pull out that i needed, then removed the plug, cut the lead to the length we wanted (i did not want unused lead sitting in the unit getting hot and never being pulled out. very simple to reattach the plug and we were good to go. The locking system takes a bit of getting used to but it's no great drama, just a little practice and it works well. Best find ever, totally changed the way i work. i'm now safe with no tripping hazards.

4* for this as wall mounting is slightly less optimal than should be as you can't remove the bracket from the unit (which would have made the install much easier and faster). Overall unit feels sturdy and does the job.

We bought these for a client who runs a brewery, they use a lot of movable mixing gear, as a result they needed plugs from the ceiling and not on the walls. These turned out just perfect. Client still is very happy with them, the catching mechanism takes a while to get used to, still great none the less

I was tired of tripping over and reeling in extension cables every day upon the hour in my workshop so thought this would be a handy solution.The unit looks well built but looks are unfortunately deceptive. The cable gets caught on the moulding inside the casing and doesn't retract properly.The plug socket is also an extremely tight fight - like pulling a cork out of a bottle!It would also be more useful if the plug retracted right up to the mouth of the reel, instead of 2ft of dangling cable that I hit my head on when not in use. (I thought to remove the rubber stop to achieve full retraction was the obvious solution, but the casing doesn't have enough clearance space to reel in the surplus 2ft!)

The media could not be loaded. To start, given this is sold by Brennenstuhl as a new item it came in a clearly opened then resealed box, it also is branded SNI, in short the product I personally received is either an engineer’s repair, or an unused customer return of a rebadged generic product.A certain high street tool selling station sell an identical yellow plastic cased 110v version and mark it on their site as unbranded.Moving on, the quality of the cable itself seems okay, but on the retractor the return spring seems very weak indeed, even if considering a user wouldn’t want it to whip from their hands on return it would be nice if after using it at full extent it would also fully retract without the user having to try to lift the cable towards the reel.Unusually for Brennenstuhl whose products are usually peerless this feels like a very low quality product for the money, and I am mulling over returning it.

I liked the this product enough to buy a 2nd one. I have 2 in my workshop, one upstairs and the other downstairs. Its just the convienence of being able to run a power source anywhere in the shop and then tidy it away in seconds. This item is well made and installs in minutes.

I attached this to my over head extractor hose allowing me to connect power tools, no more tripping over cables.
