Do you need a cushion for the bench or can it just be sat on without one? Is it comfortable?

Yes you can just sit in it that's fine but l brought a cream bench seat for it as it sets it off nicely it's a nice little bench

What is the depth of the seat?

The seat is 48 inches width , the width of the seat is 17 inches wide and from the floor to the level of the seat is 16 inches and it a very pretty seat and sits two quite comfortably hope this helps
