Definitely worth a read
Great tips and advice to get you on the track to changing different things in your life which can help with how you feel. I'm yet to have a blood tests and appointment with my doctor after I've started implementing the recommendations but feeling hopeful. Easy to understand and follow explanations of the condition, why we suffer from it, etc. It's step by step, what you need to do so you can alleviate symptoms and influence your condition. I'd definitely recommend the book and I'm still working through it (currently halfway through). It repeated a lot of what my doctor is saying - like remove stress, no toxins, etc. - however, what was missing is how do I go about achieving that and understanding the basics of the condition. The book has given me a different way of looking at things and now I'm a lot more aware of the various toxins we consume daily and don't even realise. However, there's some things to keep in mind. I'd say some prep before starting each of the fundamental protocols may be helpful. There's three and you're supposed to implement each protocol for a certain amount of time. I found I don't have a lot of what is needed to cook some of the foods. E.g. I didn't have a blender for smoothies. In addition, there's so many things you can do, at some point I just decided to apply what I can at this moment and keep the rest for reference in the future (which I think the author has also suggested in the book so this is not criticism, just my thoughts about the book). E.g. in terms of changing toiletries and cleaning products, I'd rather gradually buy products than go on a shopping spree to find the right natural products for so many things at once. I appreciate the idea of the book is to give clear guidance and steps to take but I felt I can't do it all. So I'm sharing this so you know and have the right expectations. You're definitely making a difference even if you start implementing some of the suggestions.

This is what I've been waiting for!
I have been waiting for a couple of months for this book to come out and I am delighted to say that it has met all my expectations. I have read Dr Wentz's 'Root Cause' book, and made beneficial changes to my diet and nutrition as a result, and I was hoping that Hashimoto's Protocol would provide me with a step by step guide to promoting healing in the parts of my body that have been affected by Hashimoto's, and that is exactly what it does! As well as providing three fundamental healing protocols for the liver, adrenals and gut, the book also addresses issues such as traumatic stress, tackling infections and removing toxins.Dr Wentz presents a detailed review of the treatment protocols in a very understandable way. It's really important to me to know why I am following a particular treatment as well as how to go about it. Dr Wentz explains the research but doesn't get bogged down in it. She also lets her personality come through, and her approach is practical and down-to-earth. This book is both accessible and scholarly. So far I have read the chapters about the liver and the adrenal and I can't wait to get going. It all seems very do-able and I love that there is a prescribed timescale, and scope for individual preference and choice.Best of all, Dr Wentz provides a voice of reason: she favors the use of foods, supplements, lifestyle changes and natural remedies in healing, while at the same time explaining the role of medical drugs, and her recommendations are based on the scientific research.

Easy to understand and full of information and hope!
I was so happy when I read this book. It has all the information in it that our doctors should know but don't. It really explains how Hashimoto's develops and all the possible contributing factors. It even addresses all the problems that we have to deal with in daily life and how we are coping emotionally with life and illness. The sections about minset and trauma really spoke to me and gave me hope that change is possible and can make a world of difference. And it builds on Izabella's first book, which is a great place to start. This book gives you tools to look after yourself, things you can do at home. This book is going to be so helpful to those of us who are struggling with unhelpful doctors that dismiss you without even hearing you out. The first book already helped me so much - my TPO antibodies dropped from 300 to 75 in 3 years, so I'm hoping that by using the protocols in this book I'll be able to drop below the threshold of 35 back into normality. The path is laid out step by step, which suits me - I'm no good with cold turkey. I'm really looking forward to getting started on the process. It feels easy and doable and best of all natural.

Really good book, it helped a lot for getting to ...
Really good book, it helped a lot for getting to know my condition better. However, I miss more recipes for preparing food...as you just can't eat more or less the same food everyday. I'm sure it's healthy, but very difficult to follow this diet.

Ideal Companion to The Root Cause
I read Dr Wentz’s first book, The Root Cause, 4 years ago. It was the first book I had read not only by a professional who understands that we need to address the autoimmune aspect but is also a patient herself. I believe this gives her a unique perspective and insight because she truly understands what it is to live with this condition on a day to day basis.Hashimoto’s Protocol is an ideal companion to that first book. It allows the reader to take all the information from the first book and to develop their own, personal 12 week program to recover their health and discover their own root cause. For those who are also newly diagnosed and/or new to AIP, this is an excellent introduction and takes you through easy to follow steps to getting the right testing, finding a practitioner who can help you to step by step meal prep to ensure you stay on track with all aspects of your protocol.By learning how to support your liver, adrenals and improve your gut health, to the more advanced protocols, it is a formula to enable your body to start resetting and healing itself.
