Excellent quality clutch pencil
This pencil will take 1.8mm and 2mm leads. It also has a lead sharpener built in to the system.Very pleased with it - no longer bother with a standard pencil!

good value for money
firstly, this is a plastic rotring, so not comparable to the pro series of rotring lead pencils; this is a budget entry offering comparable to the Staedler Mars Technico.I was originally going to buy the Mars Technico however at time of purchase the rotring was cheaper. This pencil has a comfortable grip, and the lead stays in place even with abit of exerted pressure beyond the scope of writing/drawing.If you are expecting the high quality metal body trim that people have come to expect from a rotring pen, you will not get it with this; however those pens are three times the price of this entry level example; this is good value for money.

A decent rotring clutch pencil
I grow weary of people buying a product that they haven't researched and then gripe and moan about how it's 'NOT WHAT THEY EXPECTED'. It's a 2mm clutch pencil, it's not hard to use you only need one hand; place the tip about 3 to 5 mm above the paper surface press then release and 'hello' just the length you require, no crashing to the floor, no drama. Yes it's made of plastic and metal, pretty much the same as 90% of pencils out there. I have no problems at all with this pencil and am happy to recommend it to anyone. I would recommend buying a sharpener for 2mm leads as they give a much better point than built in ones, and you'll keep your fingers cleaner.

Perfect
I purchased this some time ago for a night class I was taking, I bought spare lead refills for about 12 pounds in total and for that I've got a solid pencil with good weight to it, with a neat little sharper at the top that lasts forever must of used it for nearly a year and haven't had to replace the lead it came with yet. This pencil will last me a long time like years of use.

Excellent quality.
When working as a PA in an architect's practice, I noticed that only Rotring pens and pencils were used for their work. Having one of my own now I can perfectly understand the reason. This is an excellent pencil, a good weight to hold and with which to sketch/write.

Good well balanced clutch pencil
Build quality is maybe not as good (in my opinion) as the similarly priced Fabre Castel option, but the useable lead pointer in the cap and the fact it also fits nicely in the Staedtler rotary sharpener without snapping the leads is a huge bonus

Well pleased
Good value considering the all metal ones which I imagine are nicer to hold are 6-7 times more expensive. Solid, nice to hold and good quality

Rotting 300 clutch pencil. Quality item but flawed concept.
Bought this out if curiosity. Didn't really know what a clutch pencil was but now I do and probably wont be buying another one. I like the 2mm lead it's strong and mark's clearly but the feed mechanism is flawed. For my purposes. I like mechanical pencils and the click to feed utility but a clutch pencil releases the lead completely meaning that when you want more lead you have to drop what you are doing, use your finger as a stop, release the lead, fiddle around with the length you want then close the clutch. It's a fiddly, awkward system that artists and graphic designers may like or need but for the rest of us, not good. One really good feature is the sharpener in the cap.

Works with a 1950’s Leroy Lettering scribe!
Having rediscovered the ancient art of using a K&E Leroy Lettering kit, I searched high & low for a modern mechanical pencil with a 3mm nib that would fit in my K&E scribe. These mechanical pencils fit nicely in both the K&E scribes as well as the Unitech scribes.I am a happy camper.I am tempted to but the Rotring 600 ballpoint pen to use in my same Leroy Lettering kit but they’re a bit pricey for me; especially given the fact that standard ink pen refills from Zebra and Pilot G2 fit the scribe very nicely. Maybe I’ll ask Santa for a Rotring 600 for Christmas!

Nice pencil - solid and works well.
Can't complain. Good 2mm pencil at a decent price. The lead hardness indicator moves very easily, so keeping them straight if you had several with different leads would be dodgy but a piece of colored tape or similar marking would keep them sorted. Would expect this to last a very long time without problems. My last one gave out on me after roughly 30 years... It wasn't a Rotring, but they are essentially made the same way. It's prettier than my last one.... FWIW..

Very reliable drafting and drawing instrument.
I have a few 2mm lead holders, Faber-Castell, Staedtler and Rotring.I use them for drawing and I had them around since childhood always preferred them to regular pencils. It was a luxury to have one, in those days. They all have a sharpener incorporated and the clutch mechanism never fails.
