An excellent product which is 100% effective
This is an excellent cast protector which I've found to be totally effective when used in the shower. About 12 years ago I had a foot operation needing a plaster cast for 6+ weeks. At that time I didn't know about this type of protector and used plastic bags held up with rubber bands to keep the cast dry when showering. These always seemed to let water seep in somewhere and were pretty unsatisfactory all round. When I was planning for the same operation on the other foot recently I did my research and came across this protector, which I bought and have been using for a month (I also bought a bathseat). It is easy to put on and take off and has never let in even a drop of water. The plastic material is robust and I've never felt there was any danger of tearing (though I do wear an old walking sock around the cast to provide a barrier). The rubber seal at the top is perfect - it is a soft rubber which grips enough to keep the protector in place and to keep out water though remains comfortable and doesn't leave a mark afterwards. The plastic sheds water and dries quickly. All in all this has helped to make recovery less of an ordeal and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to shower while wearing a plaster cast.

recommended by the plaster room at Kings College Hospital and exactly what we needed
My teenage daughter was involved in a serious road accident just before xmas. Her injuries include a severely broken lower right leg which pinned and plated. Due to other injuries (ankle and pelvis) she cannot bear weight on her right leg (despite the pin) for at least 6 weeks. This restricts her mobility enough to make showers awkward. We were initially advised to use try bin bags and tape to keep the cast dry. This had limited success, even if the tape does not peel away there was always some leakage, it is a fiddly process and has to be applied carefully, we would have to do that before she moved to the shower room. Bin bags and tape are cheaper but time-consuming, fiddly, prone to tearing, wasteful and ultimately far more likely to leak. On an outpatient visit we asked in the plaster room what the secret was to keeping the casts dry, and the nurse said "oh go with Limbo, they're not that expensive and if you use them right you'll have no problems." She was spot on. The limbo half-leg cover pulls on easily enough that my daughter can move to the stool in the shower and pull it on there, she can fit it on her own and trust that the seal won't let her down with a few simple checks. Just that little bit of independence is a big deal to a 16-year old that doesn't really want her parents fussing around. Limbo is relatively cheap (we paid slightly more via amazon than via direct, but it gave me prime next day delivery which was worthwhile), it is well made, unlikely to tear if treated properly. The seal is very similar to the seal of my diving drysuit, used well, no water will be getting in. It is reusable, simply peg it up someplace dry. Fantastic product.

FANTASTIC PRODUCT - KEEPS LEG/FOOT DRY
I bought the 'LimbO Waterproof Protectors Cast and Dressing Cover - Adult Half Leg' following a foot operation. Foot is in part cast, bandaged and wearing a velcro ankle boot as can heel weight bear. This product is great for when showering. The information recommends placing a large sock over the cast/bandage/boot etc but I didn't have one large enough so used my toppers from wellington boots which did a great job - having a soft material over the boot made pulling the LimbO protector over my boot and leg much easier (but managed OK without anything over the boot as well). The neoprene seal above your knee is brilliant and really does keep your leg/dressing/cast dry, it is not too tight and doesn't leave a mark on your skin. It's very easy to remove once you've had a shower and very quick to dry. This is a fabulous product and would highly recommend to anyone wanting to keep their cast/dressings dry when showering - far better, and more durable than trying to use a carrier bag with some elastic around your leg LOL !!

Good Product BUT Be Careful You Know What You Are Buying
Firstly, a note to Amazon - You really need to sort out the description for this product and should know better. A note to potential purchasers - Beware! There are three products advertised, if only accidentally, here. To see the pictures and descriptions of each select from the dropdown menu as follows: Default product (surprise surprise) is M80 Weight: 10-16st & shows you information on Homecraft Cast and Dressing Leg Protector Dispatched from and sold by Amazon Large is Limbo Waterproof Limb Cast Protector Below Knee for Adults Slim Size Dispatched from and sold by LifePharmacy Online. Slim is Limbo Waterproof Limb Cast Protector Below Knee for Adults Large Size Dispatched from and sold by LifePharmacy Online. There are reviews for each but there are more favourable ones for Homecraft Cast and Dressing Leg Protector Dispatched from and sold by Amazon I ended up at Amazon after some detailed research and checking out local providers - this was the best reviewed product (& some alternatives are not great). Boots lists the Homecraft product but they could not deliver (in any way). I have a torn Achilles tendon, am currently in a cast and will be on crutches for several months it seems. I can't afford to waste money on a product that won't last, and this was the best reviewed everywhere. BUT - Here's the problem. What actually arrived was a LimbO Waterproof Protection for Casts and Dressings. The M80 Weight: 10-16st description is gobbledegook lifted from the label and actually they would have been better picking out Standard Build for the dropdown. The LimbO web site ([...]) has quite a comprehensive way of selecting the correct size - more by luck I have selected the right one - M80. I would have to work through all options to know how many there actually are - it may be only Slim, Medium (M80?) & Large. Anyway after all that, my LimbO Standard Build Adult Half Leg Waterproof Protection for Casts and Dressings has been excellent in the four days (and so four showers) I have owned it. It is basically a bag made of similar strengthened material to some dry bags with a single lined neoprene cuff at the top, with the unlined side closest to the skin. Following the instructions is easy and common sense really. It seems tough enough to last a while and I intend to care for it well, as per the instructions. Combine this with a plank I have made to go across the bath and sit on and I can now shower properly, if slowly. I have no intention of swimming in it, except that I may use it to go sailing later this year whilst transferring in to the dinghy, but that will depend on many things. Given my recent injury this has made my life a great deal better. I'll add to this review in a few weeks if necessary. At the moment I would buy this again. Update: 27th October 2015. I'm glad people are finding this review useful - any benefit from my own misfortune for others can only be good. I used this to shower long after the cast came off and to go over the orthopedic boot that I had to wear for some 8 weeks. My tendon was only painful on three occasions (once I'd torn it in the first place), they being: having wrapped the cast in the duvet whilst I slept & pulled in my sleep (Ow!); when I slipped in the bath while showering and whacked my leg against the side (Ow - sobering); & when they finally took the cast off (OOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!). I decided that the bath was the highest risk area of my new life hopping, so for some weeks kept the boot on in the shower (bath) for protection and used this thing to cover it. Tight fit, but did the job. Changed my life. 19 months after my injury, I only think about my dodgy leg about once a day & the only thing left to get back to doing is surfing my long board (and get back on the skateboard that I was using when I injured myself). A "friend" who told me early on (to my horror) that after 2 years I'd have forgotten all about it was about right. True story.

Ease of use
The leg coverings exceeded my expectations. Despite the fact that I have limited flexibility I was able to put them on easily and quickly. They were easy to walk in and did their job. I can now shower, despite leg dressings, which has made a huge difference to my life.

Good but needs varied lengths
Excellent on the whole but if you are more than about 5ft 9insvit is difficult to put your foot down flat. It would be better if there were more than one length.

Works perfectly
I came home from hospital yesterday and ordered the Limbo leg bag on the way home on quick delivery so that I was able to have a shower this morning. So the Limbo bag was used in anger this morning as I enjoyed an extra long shower, after several days in hospital being confined to bed. It worked perfectly and my new leg cast remained dry.
