As a top coat, this is great! It adds sparkle and looks different over the different colors. Over pink it looks goldish. Over blue, it looks greenish/ mermaid like. Adds dimension to your nail color. Haven't tried over other colors yet. I've used it over essie gel polish too- works great with essie. It comes off easily with acetone remover and it lasts! I've also put a super shiny top coat over it to get more shine. That works too.

Love this over any of my Sally Hansen colors. It has a rich shimmer to all my colors. It’s probably my favorite of the Top Coat varieties.

You can use this on top of any color of nail polish and any kind, not just the step 1 polish. I can’t keep polish on without using a gel effect top coat so I have a universal one that I use all the time anyway. I can put on 3 layers of color, if necessary for certain polishes or colors, then 2 layers of this for extra effect, then my universal gel effect top coat and it works great. It doesn’t flake off quickly like you would expect from so many layers, like regular nail polish. I’ve been buying seche vite gel effect, I think it’s called, but I found a cheap bottle of gel effect polish at the dollar general store locally that works well, surprisingly.

When I want the polish to be "special"...this is my go to.

Iridescent in color, light weight. Used as a topcoat for gel polish. Works well.

Love this gel dries fast and nice colour

On natural nails it casts a yellow/gold shimmer. Not sure what it's like over colours. I was expecting more of an aurora effect. I have true "mermaid" aurora effect liquid polish but it coats a light layer of purple blue pink green which isnt great over french tips but good elsewhere. This can be applied to french tips without discolouring the white (or so it seems when fresh) & gives off a little shimmer which is good. The colour in the bottle didnt cast the same over natural french but perhaps does over white base. Half price was ok wouldn't pay full price for this. I get better effects using aurora powder brushed on the coated with clear top.

I wouldn't call this "unicorn" as it tends to have a greenish tint to it when the light hits it. When I think unicorn, I think purple and pink. I did wear it as a top coat over black, so it was giving Halloween witchy vibes. I tried it over hot pink as well, and it was still greenish, just a little less noticeable. Still a nice polish, just not what I was expecting.
