The switch on the right hand side of the base. It's marked as 'Off' or 'Lo' or 'High'. Just click it to the appropriate slot?

The handset sits on a base 8.25 inches in length and 3.5 inches across. Under the base of the stand is 7.25 inches in length and 2.75 inches across. Just under 1.5 inches is the depth of both. Hope this is ok for you.

Yes - there is a switch on the side where you can switch it off. I keep mine switched off all the time because it's so loud bit makes me jump out of my skin! But of course you have to have another phone handset which you keep switched on. Hope this is helpful.
