Healthy cooking here I come!
I decided I wanted a spiralizer after being impressed by the concept in a well known Italian restaurant. I had a delicious filling 'pasta' dish for under 300 calories, so I needed one of these gadgets in my life!I chose this one due to the good reviews and I have not been disappointed. It is a quality item which comes apart for easy cleaning. I was impressed with the little brush to clean the sharp blades. You also get a vegetable peeler, and a day after you purchase the item, an email with a wonderful spiralizing recipe book with both hot and cold recipes.I have tried the spiralizer with both courgettes and carrots and found the courgettes easier, as the carrot didn't come out as well. Simply wash them, top and tail them, shove them in and twist! Amazingly long pieces of courgette come out. I found that one medium courgette and one carrot with sauce is enough for one person (and I have a big appetite). You do end up with a pencil shaped piece at the end, but just buy a wormery and it won't be wasted. You can use the spiked holder to push the ends in, but I didn't need it. My Italian meal also consisted of beetroot, and the recipe book mentions sweet potatoes. I found that my wrist did ache after a bit, so if you were doing a lot of vegetables, you may want to space it over a longer period. You can also make the size of the spirals different by choosing a different blade (there are two). When finished, I just split the spiralizer apart and rinsed it under the tap, so simple! The result was a wonderful, low calorie tasty meal, as in the photo (I just added pepper and garlic passatta and some king prawns.I really wasn't sure what to expect from this gadget or whether I would use it, but it is a quality piece of kit, fits neatly into a cupboard or drawer and produces healthy meals, just perfect!UPDATE 18/5/16 As the hand held spiralizer made my wrist ache a bit after more than one vegetable, I thought I'd try one with a handle too for when I was making a meal for more than one person. To cut a long story short, I sent it back! This one was a third of the price, easier to use, quicker to wash, and took up far less space. I couldn't even get decent spirals from the other one - I got moon shapes instead. So my original verdict still stands, I love this gadget and I have been using it weekly since I bought it.

Knees weak, arms are heavy, whats for dinner, carrot spaghetti !!
I purchased this spiralizer for my partner as she has moaned and groaned for months about them. The sprializer is very compact which is great and it comes with a little cleaning tool and a speed peeler. The concept of this gadget is to take your vegetables and turn them into something that resembles spaghetti. I found that it does work reasonably well but there is a bit of waste at the end.To work the machine there is a green insert that has a flat blade on it. You can turn this to either side and it clicks into place, the side you put the blade at will determine the thickness of your spirals. The handle/grip has some pointed teeth on it which you push into the vegetables then it is just like sharpening a pencil.I found the gadget easy to use and should be usable by people with hand, wrist or arm problems. The spirals you get from this gadget can be a bit hit and miss but you will get the hang of it eventually and when you do the end result is lovely on top of salads or to quickly blanch to replace spaghetti. The pros to this gadget i would say are its compact and easy to store. It will encourage kids to get more involved in the kitchen and possibly make them more interested in eating vegetables. The cons of this gadget have to be the leftover inch or so of veg one you are done spirilizing it and its a bit fiddly to clean. All in all its a great little gadget and could bring some flair to some of your dishes. At under £8 its a bargain and its a cheap way to find out if spirals are a craze or if they will become a main staple in your household.

Not as good as I had hoped but excellent customer service
I bought this after trying some courgette spirals from the supermarket. I only have a small kitchen and I didn't want to buy anything too big if I ended up only using it infrequently. The spiralizer is basically like a giant pencil sharpener - you stick your veg in the hole and turn and out of the side drops spirals of your chosen veg. There is a disc which you stick on the end of the veg to help get as many spirals as you can from your carrot or whatever. If you have any gluten intolerance I can recommend courgette spaghetti - it goes well with most sauces and is very easy to eat.The spiralizer is easy to use but does require a good grip on the veg so may be unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues in their hands. I found carrots quite tough but I do have some problems gripping with my thumbs, courgettes were fine but I was glad I was only preparing for two people. The main difficulty I have had with the Spiralizer is that it does not fully separate the strands and I am left with inch wide ripples, I've tried holding my veg in different ways but I still get the ripples rather than distinct spirals. It might be that my thumbs will not allow me to push the veg firmly enough but it does make the end result a little disappointing. I use the little brush to clean after use but I have got carrot stains and getting to the last little bits of veg is finicky. On average I'm using it once a month so it's probably not worth getting the bigger and possibly easier to use version.UpdateNot long after I posted this review I was contacted by the spiralizer customer services, they were very concerned and sent me a different spiralizer with four blades and a different body. I find this much easier to use and the spirals come out perfectly. So I have upped the stars by 2, one extra star for the excellent customer service I received and an extra star for the gadget they sent me. It really does the job. I felt I had to leave my genuine comments for the first spiralizer but that the company deserved an extra couple of stars for the replacement and their concern for their customer. I am not sure if the spiralizer I was sent is for sale in the UK, perhaps the company can add a comment
