Wow I'm impressed!!!
Wowwww I bought these as a bit of an experiment and I was definitely not disappointed! I can't believe how much difference they have made. This was the first time using them today and my cake has come out much bigger than it usually does and much more even with a beautiful flat top and fluffy all the way through!Very easy to use and very effective!

Work most of the time.
Having baked many cakes in the past I always get very frustrated when the cakes rise unevenly so I decided to buy these strips to see if I can solve the problem and they do work, not all the time but the majority of the time they do work to create an even cake. You wet the strips then place then around the outside of your cake tin then cook as normal and 8/10 the cake will come out perfectly even. You do need to soak them for quite a while in water to get the desired wetness so to speak because they are obviously fire retardant so need a good time in water to get wet.I am overall very happy with them and they are a staple addition to my cake baking.

Wish I’d known about these a long time ago!
I love baking as an hobby and just always thought domed cakes would be my future. My cousin asked me to make her wedding cake and so I did some research into getting flatter cakes and saw about these.May be a little dramatic to say they’ve change my life, but they’ve definitely changed my baking for the better! Cakes were lovely and flat and I got so many compliments on the wedding cake I made and these made all the difference. They’re a little fiddly once they’re wet but you get quicker at getting them into place the more you use them. Size wise I used them for 6” and 10” cakes with no issue and they’re not a bad price either. 10/10 would recommend!

Essential? Probably not....
Good but I think kitchen towel and tinfoil works better. These seem to be too thick and really affected cooking time. The tin foil option didn’t affect times but gave a brilliant bake.

No more dome tops!
Where have these been all my life! I didn't even k ow these existed until I was watching a baking video on YTAfter soaking in water for 5 mins, put these around your cake tins and that's it!Your cakes will be light and fluffy, evenly bakes with no hard edges and flat tops. No more domes to cut off! This makes it so much easier for putting your cakes together and decorating themOnce you bake with these, you will never be able to bake without them again

Really do make a difference!
I have cooked many, many cakes and whilst I would like to say that I waste a lot by cutting them level I do not. because what actually happens is I eat the pieces I cut off. which is not really a problem for me but when I have to cut a cake at its lowest point to level it off I often have to bake an extra sponge to get the desired height in a complete cake. was sceptical of these strips as some of the reviews were less than complimentary but had to try them for myself, and I must say I was very impressed. I let them soak for a good 30 minutes then fastened them to the tin (you can connect several together for larger bakes if required). I sat nervously watching through the oven door as the cake evenly rose to a height I have only previously wished for. the strips do brown slightly after a couple of uses, but then you are putting something wet into a hot oven and that's what happens. regardless, there is no sign of them falling apart and the discolouration doesn't affect their functionality at all. the only downside is I now have less spare cake to eat!

Genuinely seem to work
I am bake quite regularly for fun and like many have been frustrated by the dreaded doming effect. I've tried hollowing the middle out and made my own strips from old tea towels but they were very fiddly to pin in place. Eventually, I've decided to give these a go. They are quite large when attached (2 strips) and easily cover an 8" tin with lots of spare so I reckon would go up to 9-10". These are a little stiff and fiddly the first use until you get the knack of it. Damp them down and tighten on your cake tin and they are good to go. I've used over a spring form tin and they work fine on these. I have now baked about 3-4 cakes using these. Often using a recipe I've used before that domed despite my best efforts to prevent it and each time they cake has come out flat. Yes there might be a bit of cracking but that is often the case but no dome and a nice flat top with non of the usually trimming needed. I usually combat any cracking by flipping the cake anyhow but upon doing so the cake has been totally level ready for decorating. I tend to decorate with fondant so a flat top is essential. I've been impressed with these strips and would definitely recommend as they cut out any messing and trimming which can lead to over trimming of you don't get it right first time!
