A excellent cordless machine.
For those who use the Makita 18v system, this is a good addition.Various reviewers dislike the spring-loaded shoe at the rear of the planer to give the blades clearance when put down. There is a hole in the shoe and it can be held up out of the way by putting a split-pin or similar through it.I also have the Makita KP0810K mains planer and people have asked if the dust-bag from this machine will fit the DKP180Z and I can confirm it does, also the blow moulded case for the above mentioned mains planer will fit.The depth dial on my planer reads 1.5mm when it is set to zero! but this isn't a problem for me as I have always set the depth of the blade by sighting along the sole-plate, the same way as setting any non-electric plane.I'm pleased to see that this planer is made in the UK but hope it's not a QC issue.I still think it's worth a five star rating.(The Makita case part number is 824786-0).Having used this planer to ease an external door I confirm it's up to the usual Makita quality. It's a decent weight and reasonably quiet and virtually vibration free.

Awesome value for money
Typical Makita, high quality product, does what it says it will do and well, and at this price point a high value product. Recommended. Also mine was made in the UK which was a pleasant surprise as that's rare these days!

Very well done. Easy to setup and use. Just one should keep in mind that the tool length is a bit wider than you might think. I made that mistake and damaged the side of the door frame. One should buy the vacuum adapter, will give you a very clean job.
