Great peace of mind
I initially broughe the BT 150 sound monitor when expecting my first baby as I considered that the Angelcare sensor monitor would make me paranoid. My BT monitor is fantastic and does exactly what we wanted. However, when it came to moving my little one into his big cot from his cosy moses basket and moreover into his own room I wanted something else to give me peace of mind. So having read all the other reviews I decided to purchase the Angelcare and it has been one of my best purchases.Rather than make me paranoid as I initially feared the Angelcare has really given me peace of mind. I find that I can sleep more peacefully and when I wake during the night I glance at the monitor to see the pendulum swinging and a quick check of the temperature and then happily drift back to sleep. I personally turned the sound off the swinging pendulum as it drove me a bit crazy, but the option is there to have sound if you wish.I found the monitor easy to install and set-up and the instructions were quite clear. I was a little concerned about the requirement for plywood under the mattress but had read that someone had simply used the piece of cardboard that came with the monitor. So that is what I did and so far so good. We have inadvertently tested the sensor pad by removing little one from the cot after a nap without turning the monitor off only to be loudly reminded when the alarm goes off. So far we have had no false alarms in 4 months. However, we have an old house with uneven floor boards and the sensor clearly thought movement from the floorboards was the baby as the alarm didnt sound when I had little one in my arms and was pacing up and down one night. However, this is the only glitch we have and luckily it only involves one small area.Overall I would definitely recommend this monitor, its well worth the money.

Fantastic monitor
I bought this item about four years ago. It has been fantastic. I still use it (sound only) in my four year olds bedroom. It gave me peace of mind initially as my baby was a tummy sleeper. The 'halo' light is very gentle but allows enough soft lighting to see baby and the bedroom, although not enough to change a nappy by.Two or three years ago I needed to purchase a new lead because the monitor stopped working. I bought the monitor whilst living in the UK but had moved to Australia so the warrantee was redundant. Two nights ago two of the volume lights stopped working. I have had it for four years and as I bought a second unit for baby number two I guess I can't complain. I have used it every single night since I bought it. It's reassuring that I can hear my daughter if she needs me during the night especially if she's unwell. It would have been useful to have been able to purchase a second base unit for a second bedroom using the same handset. As it happened I wanted the video monitor second time around.I also have the Angelcare video monitor which was bought for my second baby. I bought Angelcare without really researching other brands as I was so impressed with the first monitor. I wouldn't rate the video monitor as highly as the camera is part of the base unit and is not adjustable so you need to purchase a separate tripod which there is no mention of. Even then if you can't place the monitor directly in front of the cot it needs to be placed up high and tilted right down to the cot that it becomes very unstable. If you have a white cot it seems to affect the night vision so the cot slats can be seen clearly but everything else including baby is in the dark. Mine is placed high above the foot of the cot and tilted down at a ridiculous angle which means I have to hold it carefully with one hand whilst using the other to switch it on or off so it doesn't fall or move.I would find it useful for both of the monitors to have the options to turn the sound up even higher but I have some minor hearing loss so that may not be an issue for others.I would highly recommend the sound and movement monitor although I bought mine four years ago and there may be others on the market now that are better. Do your research. I wish I did with the video monitor.

There are wants, needs and essentials - this is an essential!
This is a great little piece of kit and has almost everything you would want in a movement and sound monitor. Being our first baby, we thought long and hard over our choice of monitor and in the end I think we picked the right product. As with everything there are features that are included in some products but not others and this one must lose a star for the lack of 2 way talkback functionality. That being said, the sound quality from the one way system is top notch. The sensor pad is also a really really good idea. I could sleep through a brass band playing at the bottom of the bed and one morning while I was snoring away, unbeknown to me, my partner lifted the child from the cot and brought him downstairs. After 20 seconds the alarm (similar to a smoke alarm noise) went off and I was outta that bed like a shot standing over an empty cot in a state of panic with a heart rate of about 180... Thankful for the false alarm, but also because the damn thing works! In a nutshell, the Angelcare does what it says on the tin and unlike some of the other reviews, it is quite easy to set up... if you read the manual.PROS:- Great sound quality- Multi channel/freq to cut down on interference from other devices e.g. wifi- Movement monitor is brilliant- Upper/Lower Temp monitor (alarm sounds when either is reached)- Choice of Sound/Movement/Ticking - all three or any combination- Nightlight- Volume controlCONS:- No 2 way talkback- No built in lullabies- Docking station is a wee bit flimsy when device is docked- No audio-in Jack to connect MP3 player up (I'm getting picky now, but a well known competitor has this function)Hope this helps.
