I actually look forward to going out running again!
I was a regular trail runner until an accident a couple of years ago which stopped me running for a while. I'd bought a pair of trail shoes from another well known sports brand without reading the specs and used them a couple of times before my accident. After that, I cleaned them and put them away. However, I decided recently to give the trail running a go again.Within 3 weeks of using my other trail shoes, I found out that they were for a pronator and not a supinator like me. This caused a few problems with my right soleus which threatened my pretty short return to trail running. I rarely got over 2k - 3k before the pain hit me. Lesson learned - research your product.I've always been a fan of Salomon footwear (I own walking boots, walking shoes and general use shoes) so thought I'd give the Speedcross range a go after some serious digging and reading specs. Amazon had the Speedcross 4 in the colour I wanted for £66 delivered so I duly ordered them and waited for them to come in with bated breath. They arrived as predicted by Amazon and I decided the following day to give them a run out in the fields. If these didn't solve the problem, nothing would...I ran 7k non stop (albeit slower than most readers would) without so much as a twinge in my right calf. I was waiting for the inevitable tightness followed by pain but it never happened. Happy boy... I've since completed another 5k trail run and am as happy again. In fact I'm looking forward to going out running in the fields again. The Speedcross 4 is insanely light (I'm sure that there are people out there who will identify even lighter trail footwear) and my initial opinion on build quality is superb. The shoes are supportive in the right places and I certainly don't feel restricted as some have reported. Yes, they are snug around the sides, but there's room in the toe box for me to flex my toes so I don't consider this an issue. I'm usually a 9 but bought a size 10 based on the excellent reviews I've been reading. The lacing system is quick and simple which is good for if the laces need tightening mid way through a run. The sole is grippy on gravel and dirt, but I've yet to try that out in the wet. I'd imagine that the soft compound wouldn't last long on tarmac roads and paths. Not a drama for me as I'm planning my mileage on foot and bridle paths. The sole seems to soak up quite a bit of the impact which again, is a delight.I'm a supinator and have found that these shoes offer support where its needed without sacrificing weight or quality. All in all I'm really impressed. Salomon quality delivered with the reliability of Amazon, what more could a nearly 50 year old returnee to trail running want?

Great running shoes
Really like these shoes. I normally run on roads but have been visiting Cornwall recently (when lockdown allows) and running on coastal paths and fields.I run about 1km on road to get to the paths and the shoes are fine - feel a little odd as the grip moves on hard surfaces as they are quite “tall” but it is fine for shortish distances and the grip doesn’t seem to suffer for it.Once on fields and paths these shoes are brilliant even after a night of rain the grip is awesome, no sliding at all. I feel totally sure footed when running in them. The laces are great without the need to tie them and even without any warm up I didn’t get any blisters at all - first run in them was 11k and no pain or rubbing at all. Really comfortable. Will definitely be getting another pair when these wear out but think they will last for a while. They are not water proof but that isn’t an issue as I’d rather have breathable shoes that keep my feet cool.Totally recommend.

The most Lightest running shoe I've ever owend
May say straight off, this is a beautiful shoe. This is my second pair in a different colour though. I however thought I was buying a gore tex running shoe. I later found that there are two models, Buyers beware, you must look for the symbol to the right hand side of the bullet point pictures to guarantee gore tex. If there is a tag then it is waterproof, however if there is not, then you got it, No it's not waterproof. I must say though size 8 must be in popular demand. In the gore tex version because I can't get them anywhere, In this colour that is, I must say though I think I will actually use these for casual ware & wait for the gore tex set come back. These are so good looking to trash on the hills & roads. Did I mention these are stunning looking & they are the best fitting, comfortable shoes off the internet I have ever bought. My First pair are still going well after two years only on park runs, grass & tarmac though, the only sighs of wear on the tread, to be expected the rest of the shoe, with a good wash look as good as new. I would truly recommend this shoe to the runner & the casual shoe wearer, for comfort & style. Thank you Salomon for a superb shoe.

4 wheel drive for your feet!
This is my 4th pair of Speedcross shoes so you can tell I really like them!Salomon sizing is a bit small so I always get a size larger that usual (I'm a UK size 9 so I get a UK size 10) and it's still a snug but very comfortable fit.The only issue I have is that they all fall apart in the same way - the fabric that bends along the toe joint gives out 1st and then the glue on the sole unit fails and they fall off. I guess Salomon don't fix the design because it helps sell more shoes. That said, I don't look after them at all and they last a year or so, so as long as you know that then get a pair and enjoy excellent traction in the mud!

Jolly Good
If you have worn Speedcross 4 before, then you won't be interested in other people's opinions as you know that they are superb. The only reason to check here is to see if you think these are real or fake items. The pair I received are genuine and of excellent build quality. 66 Sovs at the time of purchase is great too. This is my 5th pair and I justify my purchasing by saying that they are for my mountain biking; the Contragrip gives excellent grip on platform pedals and I have endurance raced three races with them with less than a handful of slashed shins from slipped pedals - all my fault - not the shoes. However, I wear these shoes on a daily basis for all ambulatory activities and cannot fault anything except that the sole lugs wear down faster than one may expect. This characteristic I am happy to live with as the shoes are otherwise so good and perhaps an acceptable trade-off against their superb soft grip on rocks - a bit like Lewis Hamilton accepting a faster wear on his soft tyres is worth the extra grip...Summary; these are my 5th pair and will not be the last - I love them.
