For the past few years I've been on a quest for a truly great pen, and I found it. These pens write beautifully, with a very true black, they are comfortable to hold and I don't find myself with any sore spots after using them in 2 hour exams. They also don't have any repercussions further up my arm, as the ink flows easily and requires hardily any pressure to write beautifully. The ink dries extremely quickly, and even on shiny birthday card I've never had it seriously smudge, and overall I've just never had any problems with these pens. However, they're pretty expensive on a student budget, until I discovered you can buy refill packs! These are the perfect solution, because I don't need to go around buying 2 packs of pens which then run out all too quickly, and I don't need to buy a new pen when it runs out of ink. I'm sure that this has saved me money, and it also means that I always have a refill on hand when a pen runs out, rather than being stuck with some other pen until I can get out to buy more. I definitely recommend this type of pen, and buying them in this form has proved the easiest for me. The only time I've had any issue with one of these pens is that after changing the ink cartridge about 10 or 15 times, the thread on the top part of the pen wears out and no longer resists the pressure from the spring, causing the bottom half of the pen to fly off without warning, but that is to be expected when a pen has been used that much!These are just the best pens I have ever used, I intend to never use any other type of pen from now on.Buy them.

These refills are extreamly useful. I find them a most satisfying tool to write with.

Am a huge fan of pentel pens - especially the choice of vibrant colours - and love that I can buy packs of refills that I keep handy so I never run out of colourful ink with these ones.

I really like Pentel Energel roller ball pens, they have a rubber finger grip which makes them comfortable to hold when writing and the ink/gel is a bold black. The result is akin to that of an ink fountain pen, far nicer result than any ball point pen.It took me ages to discover I could buy refills for these gel pens, this works out at about half the price - excellent value.The reason for only 4 stars is because the gel doesn’t seem to ‘take’ on shiny paper, I have written birthday cards in the past and the gel just doesn’t dry so I’ve had to wipe the gel off (which just leaves an imprint) and then use a ball point pen. That said these pens/refills are a pleasure to write with and give a lovely bold result.

Got recommended these by somebody and after seeing the glowing reviews I thought I'd give it a shot.I bought these for my Lamy Safari, Lamy Al-star and Waterman Hemisphere pens. They do not fit these pens by default as they are larger than the international standard sized cartridge but can be cut down to size.Previously tried Waterman, Lamy, Parker, Pilot G2 and Monteverde cartridges and was absolutely tearing my hair out as about 95% of them were dead on arrival! Possibly old stock from a seller or something, who knows.Anyhow, I bought these on a whim, as time is running short for exams - and they are exactly what I'm looking for. Nice and smooth and enable me to write perfectly in my exams without getting hand cramp or anything similar. The ink does initially run a bit watery and not as dark as you'd expect but after 5 minutes or so of use it starts writing normally.Also a good cartridge for the above pens is the Schmidt 888F but note this is a standard size refill that can't be modified to fit a Pentel pen!Ink is filled pretty well in all of them (closer to the top than the picture suggests). I cannot recommend them enough.

Nice colour and flow of ink. Given the choice another time, I would choose a 0.5mm as 0.7mm is a bit thick for my particular taste. But still well worth of 5 stars.

A pen is a pen is a pen, at least that was what I thought before I bought two of these (for charity) at a greeting card shop when I was in urgent need of a pen. I didn't really have much use of a pen for some months until I took a class and was taking lots of notes. I picked up my pentel gel pen and thought it really made a difference. It fit my hand well (no cramping) and moved over the paper in a way ( I.e. Not too scratchy and not too slippery) that helped to keep my penmanship legible. The first pen ran out of ink a bit quickly, but the second lasted for ages...it's still going. I wasn't able to buy refill cartridges locally, but found these online. I am now stocked --probably for life-- thanks to three new pentel gel pens and this package of refill cartridges, both purchased through Amazon. I guess people don't use pens all that much in this day of electronic communications... But if you do need a pen, this is a good one, and these refills will keep it going.
