Spear & Jackson 5LPAPS 5 Litre Pump Action Pressure Sprayer

This is a really good quality pressure sprayer and feels well built from the start. I’ve been using it to spray weed killer around the patio, driveway and garden, and it performs very well. The pump builds pressure easily and holds it nicely, so you’re not constantly stopping to re-pressurise.Spraying capacity is large and the overall unit looks good! The sprayer feels sturdy and reliable, with no leaks or weak points, and it’s comfortable to use even when full. It definitely feels like something that’s built to last rather than a cheap, disposable option. For the price, the value for money is excellent. It does exactly what it’s meant to do and does it well. A solid bit of kit that I’d happily recommend for garden and outdoor maintenance.

Updated 04/2024 - just to add to the below detailed review that this is still going strong in 2024! Had to do a minor repair to the pump tube (a bit of gorilla tape) as I caught it on a spade - but even with my small repair, this pump is still a great asset to my garden and other jobs! As with most of my reviews, I like to leave my comments after a period of use as I think that is a fair way to really test out and items durability - especially when it is being used a lot as I have with this spray. Bought back in August 2019 (almost a year ago) I can confirm this is a great pump spray that has lasted well and bee used many a time and with a little tweak could get to that 5 star it really deservers (see 'cons' below). Pros Solid Build - This has been banged around left, right and centrer - from garage, around the garden, to shed and more. No dents and I feel confident when storing liquid within it that it will be safely contained. Easy to use - I wish I could share more than one video to show the pump action and filling but you will just have to trust me that it is easy to use. Filling is not a problem as with the pumping itself. There is an air valve to release the pressure if required and you just turn and lock in the handle when pumping is complete. Good coverage from spray - You can tweak the spray to your liking which gives great targeted or wide coverage as you can see in the video. This is epically improtant if you are using chemicals such as weed killer. Filling guidelines - you can see from the pictures that there are measurement lines on the side which are large and clear to see and which is very important if needing to mix. Weight and pump lasting time - once filled the weight is actually not that bad at all and the spray time you get out of each pump is more than enough I think - this would depend upon the amount you are spraying out of the nozzle of course and the area to be covered. Cons - Okay so here is why I gave it 4 stars and although this does not hinder the use it really did annoy me at first so I like to be completely honest in my reviews. The strap. It goes over your shoulder fine and stays there mostly but it is a little annoying and doesn't always hold to the shoulder - shift round to the front or off the shoulder at times. This means that if it gets in the way or otherwise just becomes a little loose it stops you until you sort it again. Also when filling/emptying it can tend to get wet which my read minor but when you are using chemicals you don't want them on your strap that is then going on your clothing etc. I have got used to this now but the design of the strap could be a little better in my opinion = personal choice maybe but just being honest here. Would I recommended this? Absolutely. It's great for the jobs at hand and a solid product - even with that strap. Tips - I don't usually give tips in reviews but thought some might find this useful. I wear rubber gloves as it saves you getting chemicals on your hands as the spray particles can spread in the wind. Wear clothing that you don't mind getting 'contaminated' as, again, when spraying you will get some particles landing on clothing. Don't use it in the wind! Wear goggles maybe - depending on what you are spraying.

Well...I bought it for my bug killer but as I was testing it in the garden with just water I found it to be excellent in cooling me down in the heatwave as a shower mist. I cannot use it for the bug spray now as I need it for my personal cooling system which is delightful spray. Loving it to be honest It was very simple to use and logical. The handle and holder for the spray arm is very handy. Seems sturdy enough as I carry it around the garden with me. I'm going to have to buy another one but will paint it red so i don't get the 2 confused lol. For me I say it's worth the money as it seems solid enough and works well and is simple to assemble, it's done in less that 1 minute.

I've been through a few cheap sprayers that have leaked, lost pressure, or broken after a handful of uses, so I decided to invest in a trusted brand. This Spear & Jackson sprayer is worth every single penny and has completely changed my garden chores. The build quality is immediately noticeable. It feels robust and well-made without being overly heavy. The 5-litre capacity is the perfect size—large enough to tackle a big weeding or feeding session without being too cumbersome to carry. The best feature is the pump action mechanism. It pressurises with just a few easy pumps and maintains that pressure consistently until the tank is empty. The spray pattern is even and adjustable, and the lance is a great length for reaching under bushes without having to bend over. I've used it for applying weed killer, liquid plant food, and even for misting my greenhouse plants, and it has performed flawlessly every time. There are zero leaks, and it's easy to clean and store. dont bother with the cheap ones this is the one the seals always go on the cheaper ones i have had mine for over 2 years and going strong just remember to let the compression out after use and it will last

I have a larger backpack sprayer, but wanted something similar, but smaller so bought this. It's typical garden sprayer construction of chunky plastic and metal parts, all of which are reasonable quality. Once purchased, check inside the container for the extra nozzles or you'll think they are missing.

It's a good sprayer. Although a little flimsily built.
