The Herb Book: The Stories, Science, and History of Herbs Hardcover – May 9, 2023

Visually, the book is a delight for the eyes, with great page layouts and illustrations. The historical anecdotes make for good reading. There is also some mention of modern research alongside traditional uses. I found the wide range of herbal plants described inspiring, in the sense that it gives ideas for further exploration. Besides pages devoted exclusively to a single herb species (or sometimes multiple related species), there are two-page spreads devoted to categories like flavorings, herbs that help the brain, aid digestion, fight inflammation, etc. The book does not attempt to be all inclusive like the old herbals. It is a fun book, something that would be a good gift to get younger people interested in herbs and herbal medicines.

The book is huge!!! So beautiful and a lot of great info! Keeps attention for those who are ADD like me!
