Winsor & Newton Foundation Oil Hog Brush Set, Short Handle, Round Filbert & Flat, 6 Pack

These were inexpensive but of a good quality - a great beginner’s brush set. They were stiff and precise and worked well with the oils I was using. I used turpentine to clean them, which was pretty effective.

Brushes arrived in a sealed never-opened pack with all the bristles glued together with what felt like egg whites, which was difficult to wash out with both soap and water and paint thinner. Most brushes had many broken and splayed bristles even before first washing. Two of the brush heads are loose but not so much that they'll fall off in use, they just rattle and shift, which is annoying. The round brushes despite coming in a protective sleeve are completely splayed and won't come to a point no matter what I try. One of the filberts has a chunk missing from the end on one side, making it lopsided and uneven. The bristles load up on oil paint and bulk up in the middle causing them to splay and widen even more. I was expecting far better from W&N.

Terrible brushes. I had to trim the bristles with some scissors in order to make them semi-decent for painting. They maybe good for texture and abstract backgrounds with the new shape I created. The one from above is untrimmed.

You get what you pay for, they work but dont expect better quality from w&n than you regularly would they are hard to separate the bristles, and they loose bristles on the canvas sometimes

Didn’t keep it’s shape, so far every brush by Windsor newton is absolute trash, just buy Utrecht brand for way cheaper

The smallest brush arrived angled at the ferrule (metal handle) connection point (not broken off, but loose rocking side to side). You can see after one regular use (as I did not attempt to break), the larger brush is angled at the ferrule, rocking back and forth, and one of the middle brushes has simply broken off. Disappointing to receive a broken product and only lasted for single use.

Far too soft, and the bristles feel cheap - expected much better from winsor and newton
