Well-research, detailed, fast read - a must for JD investors and eCommerce entrepreneurs
This is a well-researched, detailed account of the early beginnings of what will likely become one of the world's largest and most successful eCommerce companies. It's an easy, fast read - with interesting details about JD CEO/Founder Richard Liu's life and vision.

Disappointing and outlandish
This book is ridiculous. It makes Richard Lui into a Greek God. There are outlandish statements of fact that speak for thousands of employees that can’t possibly be true. It appears the writer was either paid to write this book or had some other vested interest. It seems poorly researched and on the nose in many cases. I had high hopes as a shareholder, but after about 100 pages I can’t buy what is being sold any longer.

Disorganized, too long, and rambling
Could have been meaningfully shorter. Hagiographic to Richard Liu, not real structure or thesis, and fawning to management. Tons of ants-eye perspective anecdotes from JD.com workers. It felt like it was partially authored by JD.com PR (which, in the end of the book, if I remember right, the author thanks for opening up access).
