Food safe 5 gallon buckets are great, but the screw on lids, with silicone o-ring seals makes these next level. I store flour, with oxygen absorbers and desiccant pods, out in the garage, without spoilage or rodent problems. I purchased a few sets now, they are great

These 5 Gallon Food Grade Plastic Buckets are the perfect size for storing grains and other dry food items, such as beans, rice, flour, or sugar. These quality buckets are thick and do not warp easily. The Gamma Seal screw-on lids make each container air tight.

I used a 2 lb. dead blow hammer to install the lids with ease. If you get a lid that sticks when you're screwing it on or off, then just go around the blue colored rim with the dead blow hammer making sure that the rim is seated evenly. I bought these buckets for food storage, so I'd have washed them no matter what. But, the buckets stank, and the odor was persistent. Both dishwashing detergent and baking soda proved unsuccessful. Then, I poured ~16 ozs. of distilled white vinegar (acidic) into a bucket, soaked a sponge in the full-strength vinegar and rubbed the sponge all over the bucket. Next, I filled the bucket to its' brim with water and let it sit for 20 hours. The vinegar worked, no more odor!
