I really enjoyed this "quick read" book regarding many of the greatest artists of all time. All the recognizable names and a few more were discussed. Very nice overview and who does not like to learn of the personal quirks, bad behaviors, tragedies, and humanness of these great artists. Loved the incorporated comedy element with the art work. Enjoyed this book which gives brief descriptions of some the most revered artists.... eye opening in the personalities and quirks that these mostly men... exhibited. Very enjoyable and easy reading ... the graphics are a bit pop and although many people may enjoy this type of graphic I found it distracting... would have preferred pictures of the art works referenced.

I like the short snippets about artists. Some of the stuff is a rehash of things you can find in other places. It definitely entices students to read art history in a new way.

I found this to be succinct and fascinating. This is my 3rd 'Secret Lives' book and I think this one is right on par with the authors and composers editions. Great short reads, not meant to be a complete history of anyone, obviously, but perfect at someone at a moderate knowledge level of a subject. Makes me interested to know much more about some of these artists. Great series!

I purchased this book for the entertainment value and the spectacle, and I stuck around for the art history. I was pleasantly surprised, entertained AND educated by this book. A very fun way to learn.

occasionally for light reading i love this genre of book....its informative, coughing up nasty lil tidbits about well known artists and some not so well known......i honestly feel that THIS is the way knowledge should be handed out to kids/adolescents/adults.....liven it up....historical figures, holy men, people in power,. ATHLETES, should not be placed high above~because when they are found to be human.. its such a betrayal and shock to some people.....These sorts of books let us see the often flawed human aspects of the famous and our HEROES . "Sex with Kings", "Secret lives of Great Authors", "Secret Lives of Famous Actors"...these were fun, educational, spicy little tidbits....in MY OPINION ....."Secret Lives of Great Artists" was good, but not my favorite.

Lots of interesting trivia regarding some of the great artists of all times. Highly recommended for artists of all types.

This is a really fun book, with all kinds of interesting tidbits about famous artists. I think giving each artist's astrological sign is superfluous, though.
