Borage oil has shown to be a great source of Omega 3 for people who cannot properly hydrolyze fish oil, or for those who seek a plant based source. Borage has been shown to help with inflammation throughout the body, aid in balancing cholesterol, and has been linked to brain health. New Roots herbal is a Canadian company with good transparency that manufactures their own products (not simply rebranding others made who knows where by anyone) and works with a University program in developing nutritional products. Organic is a plus as well for any plant based product.

This is a good quality organic soft gel borage oil that is easy to swallow. I take this product to help reduce inflammation in my joints. I would highly recommend this product.

The description and product pictures state that it is “organic” but the Borage oil I received is not organic‼️ This appears to be a super sneaky switch as the label on my bottle looks NEARLY IDENTICAL but the product picture being sold on Amazon except for the bottle I received is not certified organic & doesn’t state organic on it anywhere. BUMMER bc the entire reason I ordered this more expensive brand was advertised as “organic“.It says that it’s GMO free but nowhere on the packaging does it state that it’s organic. = It’s clearly not USDA or third-party certified organic either. It appears that the product picture has been altered to sell an organic product on Amazon.

The New Roots Herbal product here for 100% organic Borage Oil serves 1200 mg of organic borage containing 264 mg of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). There are articles out there linking GLA with medicinal effects, but it ultimately provides the body with an omega-6 fatty acid which can then be converted to substances that reduce inflammation and cell growth. So what does this mean? Well, it's hard to say, but it can help with aches and pains (like nerve pain), maybe some skin conditions, and possibly other chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol. But, if you're looking at this product, you're probably hopeful for some sort of positive effect anyways, so how is the softgel itself?Well, the softgel is quite large and can be a little hard to swallow. I cut one open to apply to my skin and I did not experience any sort of allergic reaction to it. The oil itself feels like a good clean quality oil and appears easily absorbed. The bottle itself is a standard medicinal bottle.All in all, the New Roots Herbal organic borage oil is an interesting supplement. Although I can't quantify any benefits from it, the product itself seems to be of decent quality. The softgels themselves are just a little large so make sure to have plenty of water nearby.

Extremely disappointed in product! False advertising! Ordered Organic, as stated on packaging. Upon receipt, the product was NOT organic! Bait and switch.

GLA is an important supplement, particularly in weight loss according to credible data. This is a bit on the pricey side for GLA, you can find it cheaper. Objective assessments of health benefits are impossible to quantify so I won't try. If you care about organic, maybe you're willing to pay more. I don't, and I'm not.
