Quality Football Coffee Table Book
This is a lovely quality coffee table book, with a range of large-scale iconic photography from World Cups. The brief written passages, from a selection of football journalists, are perfectly pitched to illustrate the photography. It’s really well presented and makes an ideal gift for football fans.

Quick World Cup history
The Times newspaper has collected the best of the reports from the very first football World Cup final to put together a complete history of the best bits of World Cup history. Divided into sections of the most exciting matches, best players and controversial points, this makes a fascinating read for any football fan. Paired with stunning full colour photography, this is a collector's book. The concise but not sensational journalism expected from The Times reporters, ensures this a worthy and timeless account. These reports are from a variety of journalists who have written for the paper over the years, and this accounts for the variety of writing, They are, of course, the one hundred highlights of the World Cup, without the boring bits. Bliss. There are events that occurred before I was born and it is good to read about the great countries of the past. It's always fun to read about the one time England won! For the events and players I do remember, it's a pleasant bit of nostalgia to be reminded of Cameroon's Roger Milla's dancing celebrations, the skills of the Brazilians that were always so colourful, the technical play of West Germany, the Total Football of Holland. Bobby Moore, Johan Cruyff, Maradona and Pele are all deserving to be part of football's history.Published in time for the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which this time nearly encompasses Christmas as well, this is a bright book and will make a great gift, especially the hardback version.

A marvellous trip down memory lane
This is a real treat. Depending on your age, you'll remember some of this vividly, some of it you'll have heard about, and so on. But for any fan of men's World Cup football, there are so many iconic moments featured here. It's not a book of facts and figures, rather it is articles reproduced from the The Times' archives, and accompanied by great photography. For me it was wonderful to look back on memories from the eighties, nineties and subsequent, but also great to read about 1966 too even not having witnessed it at the time! There are those painful moments recalled too though, Italia 90 and the penalties... Definitely a great coffee table type book to enjoy over time, and a special present for a fan too.

Excellent
I'm reviewing the hard back here and have no idea about the Kindle edition.Whatever you think about the World Cup being held in Qatar it is an exciting event for any family with football mad kids in.This book works really well in bringing the history of key events and sports people to life. The photography is great as is the quality of the writing. Numerous journalist but great editing keeps it tight and contemporary. We are watching the event with an eight year old Ukrainian and he is absolutely poring over it. I'll be reading it in the boring bits of matches and my husband will even more information to pontificate on down at the pub. So, that is us, happy all round.

This is great if you're old enough to remember some of these moments
I'm not sure if a younger person would find this is interesting as I do but if your memory goes back far enough, as mine does, then reliving some of those iconic moments is a wonderful trip down memory lane. It's probably not a book that you would dip into often, but you probably pick it up every time the World Cup comes around just to have a little look and remind yourself about days passed.

Packed with images and detail
As might be expected with a Times publication, this is a good looking book. It’s hardback with a colourful dust jacket and it’s very striking. An ideal gift for any football enthusiast.I’m not especially keen on football, but I’ve spent an enjoyable afternoon browsing the content. It’s packed with large, full page colour images and has taken 100 moments over the decades that are memorable. The text is packed with detail and there’s an interesting range of clubs and players from around the world. This is a book that will be treasured and look good on any shelf.
