You should be able to set it in English. Just keep on twisting it until the correct day appears. You can view and download the manual through this link http://assets.timex.com/manual/W-217.pdf.

Q: How does one set the day without changing the date on this watch?

TO SET THE DATE: 1. PULL the crown out to the “B” position. 2. TURN the crown either way to the correct date. 3. PUSH in the crown to the “A” position. TO SET THE DAY: 1. PULL the crown out to the “C” position. 2. TURN the crown either way for full 24 hour cycle to set day. 3. PUSH the crown in to the “A” position.

Q: does it glow in the dark?

Yes, both the hands and the circles for the hours.
