Worth Every Penny
I spent a lot of time looking around Amazon for an electric toilet seat/bidet and I kind of got into "analysis paralysis" with all of the choices, the different prices, all of the different features, and all of the positive and negative reviews. I knew going with Kohler was somewhat of a safe bet because I have a few of their other products and the quality seems to be good. Basically, I knew I wanted an electric toilet seat with a bidet with a seat heater, electric deodorizer, and with warm water. I also knew I did NOT want a toilet seat with a remote controller (seriously, why do you need a remote to control something you are literally sitting on?).I found this bidet to be fairly easy to install. I have almost zero plumbing experience, so I was thankful for that. The seat controls are VERY easy to figure out. Everything is pretty self-explanatory. The deodorizer is...ok. It's not the greatest, but it's WAY better than a bidet that doesn't come with one. I love that the toilet seat has an automatic light that turns on at night. I like that it is self-cleaning. I love that the seat is always warm.*One thing to note is that the bidet does not have a connection to your hot water source.* This was actually a POSITIVE selling point for me, because I didn't want to have to drill a hole in my cabinet to get to the sink connections. This means, however, that even if you set the bidet water to the warmest setting, is not going to be warm right away. It does warm up very quickly (I'm talking seconds), though, and I have had no issues with it.The electrical cord doesn't reach too far. My bathroom outlet is right next to the toilet, but it is on TOP of the counter, not below it (I feel like this is how most bathrooms are). So I was disappointed that the cord does not reach that far, however, I got an inexpensive 3-pronged extension cord and that solved the problem.Ultimately, I've had this toilet seat / bidet for about 3 months now and I still love it. Guests love it too! For what fancy bidets are going for these days, I think this is absolutely worth it.

Replaced my K 4737 with this model. Both are great.
I just purchased this to replace my well used Kohler K 4737.We had that model for 6 1/2 years. Never a problem. Heavily used.We just decided to take advantage of a good price on this newer model.I really felt badly when I disposed of an old friend that never let us down.I will compare the two.The biggest difference to me is the inline hybrid heater of this model, vs the tank heater of the K 4737.I like the tank heater better. Immediate and very hot water. Can actually feel scalding at the highest setting. Reheats very quickly. The 8298 starts off cool, and does not get as hot.Why get the new model? The K 4737 looks like it belongs in a nursing home, with its high tank. The new model looks much better. The new model has stainless steel nozzles vs plastic. My wife says this will be much easier to clean. The new model also feels more comfortable to sit in.I didn’t need to change the fittings when I switched seats. That was nice. Caution. Before you place the seat on the toilet, pull out the inlet connection from the seat. I mounted it first, and was not able to pull out the inlet tube. Had to remove the seat. When I reinstalled it, a 10 second job, I could not get the seat to lock in place again. Maybe a benefit. Doesn’t move. Easier to pull out to clean. These are very easy to pull away for cleaning, even when locked. Just push a tab.I have had two other brands that had remotes. Found them to be a pain, that constantly dropped on the hard bathroom floor. Did not want a remote model. Both of the other brands worked nicely, but developed defects within two years for one, and 90 days for the other. Junked them. Mfg no help.In my review of the K 4737, I put three photos on, showing the installation by an electrician. Metal sheathed wiring was connected and ran from the GFI plug, under the sink cabinet, and another plug was installed on the cabinet side next to the toilet. Nice to have a second plug on the other side of the cabinet. Let me separate the waterpic from the electric toothbrush. Installation was neat, invisible, and no wall repairs were needed,Also want to add that I installed the other brands in a different bathroom. The electrician, from the same company, had no idea what to do. Had no metal sheathed wiring, required per code. I showed him the first installation He replicated it. Recommend that if you have an electrician out to do one plug, have him do it for your other bathrooms at the same time. If you need it for another bidet it will be there. If not, the extra plug is nice.
