Functional
Worked well. Would have liked a spring to clamp the wire whilst preparing pull, but then it was price worthy!

Timesaver
I work with cable and use this to pull dead tractors onto my trailer to get to my shop. It holds the cable firm, so there is no slippage.

Not for ziplines
Bought it to tighten a zip line, but the line falls through and then freely slides behind the grip. I can just about use it if I hold it tight while pulling, but that needs extra hands. Not for ziplines.

For the money - it's decent.
I work as a lineman for a telco company - so I have all the REAL versions of these tools at work to compare it too. So - I'll say this: I would NOT trust my life on this - holding up / tensioning 1,000+ pounds of copper cable to a utility pole Is NOT something I'd do with this. Never. But for light duty stuff - sure - it works. I've placed and tensioned a small 6.6 strand down guy for a pole (normally we use 10M) with it - when the pole already had another down guy on it (so nothing horrible could have happened) using a 0.5 ton mini chain hoist - and yea- It works. If you wanna tension up, or pull something on a rope - some wire fence - even tension a section or two of bare strand on a pole line - it'll work. Just to hold up a slack span - instead of holding it with your hands - ya know - just using it as a 3rd hand - sure. This is DEFINITELY NOT a "replace your Klein grips that costs hundreds of dollars" tool - so manage expectations.I bought this and 1/2 ton Jet chain hoist just in case I have to do something off a ladder in a back yard - or on a buildings roof - and carrying up my normal 1.5 ton 20 pound chain hoist and heavy Klein grips would be total overkill for what I need to do. A few months ago I had to go up a ladder just to shift some slack in a small cable in order to gain more height in a section that was running behind someone yard. I'm getting a little older now - and walking half a block carrying all these heavy tools - then up a ladder back into someone's yard - annoyed me a little too much that day. So I bought a mini 0.25 ton and 0.5 ton chain hoist (I was only gonna keep one, but thought they were both so cool I wound up keeping both) from the cheapest "good" brand (Jet), a 2 inch wide 4 foot sling, and one of these to use with them. I keep them all in a small composite case from Harbor Freight so I can carry them all in one shot if I wanna use them. I do also have a really small Klien grip that I keep with them too - but that Klein grip isnt spring loaded. This cheap one is - so it stays where you put it - and even has a cheapo gate you can utilize to keep it from sliding off.So yea - it works. I'm sure it'll be great for things like small wire rope, barbed wire fencing, the occasional home/ranch use. But dont go start a contracting company, buy a truck - and THESE as your tools. Just don't do it. Stick with Klein.

Awesome product!
We bought this to pull some wire out of the ground, and for the like $20 we spent on this thing, it was totally worth it. The wire puller is pretty heavy duty, and the locking mechanism on it is excellent. We used it for super thick wire and a couple grounding rods. If you need to get a grip on wire or something similar I highly recommend this product.
