Good but you need to upgrade
You could mill your own lumber without this thing, but I honestly don’t know why you would. This moves the project along and makes the cuts better. The pin that connects the arm at the end of the wood to the actual wood (the arm pivots on the pin) - the pin is junk. Do yourself a major favor and drill a bigger hole and put a bolt with a locknut on it. Why the scholars that invented this thing didn’t do that escapes me. The arm is made of light/cheap aluminum, and while you’re cutting your slabs, that pin will come loose. And you won’t know it until you’re done.I barely looked at the instructions, and setup was pretty easy.I cannot imagine doing this project without this.

Works well.
Works very well. Just have to get the hang of applying the right tension on it to not bog the saw down.

Lots of little problems
Lots of little problems with this kit. The nylon thumb screw that keeps the cord from unwinding vibrated loose and we lost it in the saw dust. The roll pin on the arm where the attaches to the log is not long enough and keeps coming loose so I will have to replace it with a bolt. I have to say if you can keep the parts from falling out it makes milling logs much simpler.

Carriage bolts are the wrong size
The carriage bolts are the wrong size. They will not fit in the rail.

exactly what I needed
It is easy to assemble. The company is prompt to answer concerns. It really smooths out the work of milling.

Better boards, better experience, less shoulder pain
Looks like a gimmick, a little bit of a wrestle when you get down to the last couple of slices (at first you need three hands, but eventually you'll figure it out). Oh, and you'll want to chase the threads where the plastic tensioner screw goes in since it's loaded with powder coating (it's metric). But wow! No shoulder pain from wrestling your cut. And nice consistent cuts! Get this thing!
