Does what it sets out to do
The author states that she has two concerns as she presents her analysis. The first one is to place the women discussed in their socio-cultural background, and second to focus on literary design. The material presented accomplishes these two tasks. Each chapter begins with a synopsis of the biblical texts. Also, there are study questions at the back of each chapter. Interestly she presents material that illuminates how different readers view and are affected by the text. For example, she presents three different women in modern Africa that are affected by infertility. Each of her examples show various options that these women had. One woman was ostrazied from her community, another expienced divoce and yet another one had to decide whether to stay with her husband as he took another wife. Overall, I would recommend this book.

Interesting analytical book
This book makes the reader investigate the truth. The writer uses different interpretations of womenall over the world concerning their take on the biblical women in the Holy Bible.I wasn't crazy about this book, however it was interesting to see how other women perceived history.

Just Wives? or Pawns!
This is a very good tool for Christian study of some women in the Bible and the way Middle Easterners think today about women.
