A little difficult
Cheap tubular steel. A little difficult to get together without a mallet or wooden block to pound screws and parts together. Instructions are just photos, adequate for those with mechanical and intuitive mind, but not for the less than handy. The included “wrench” is so whimpy, I would not trust the torque it will provide- which means it will fall apart with time. Use a REAL wrench. Mount is made for a variety of crossbars, from narrow to wide to flat and round. I don’t trust the security of the quick mount large knob nuts. I would definitely strap the kayak to my car’s cross bars and NOT to this wing rack, unless you want your kayak to fall on a trip. I heard that the provided straps are worthless, so you also better throw a few square knots at the end! But it is well worth the money!

Good value for the money
The bolts were too long for the cross bars on my 2018 4runner. I had to cut them down, but that's to be expected with something that's universal and not made for a specific model. Straps held fine the 2 times we used them. Not sure if others maybe fed the strap thru in the wrong direction or got some bad straps. Held fine doing 65 mph. I tested them before hand by the strap thru the buckle, standing on one side and pulling with my arms and legs. Didn't budge, if you fed them thru backwards the force would have allowed them to come loose.

Assembly is easy if you know how
The instructions are awful. Make sure you are putting the metal plate on the bottom outside of the rubber mount. It doesn't address that in the instructions and it ships with it inside the rubber. Other than that they work great. Even the straps hold well as long as you feed them through the teeth correctly. For long trips I still use ratchet straps for peace of mind.

Good quality
Perfect for kayaks and made well. Straps do the job but husband wanted heavier so we bought rachet straps separately.

Good price
It was easy to put together. The straps was to short to install correctly. Ended up having to buy longer and and more secure straps.
