Edinburgh Lectures is a classic in the New Thought movement, with Judge Troward having been among its most influential contributors. Because of his Victorian English, which includes lengthy sentences, a degree of patience is required, but he is as human as can be; and with a basic education and ability to read, you'll gradually find you can simplify his concepts as you get used to his style. Stay with him! You can follow his impeccable reasoning and logic as he takes you through his explanations of such things as the subjective and objective mind, cause and effect, the law of growth, intuition, the function of the Will, healing; and numerous other life-enriching concepts.

All the greats of the world today continually refer to this book/lecture, and the author/speaker, as the pinnacle. And there is a smart reason for that. This is one of the most valuable books published in the last 150 years.I love these lectures in book form for the simple fact that if you test the information in your own life, it works. And works well I might add. It's nice to have as a reference refresher.This book is not written in modern soundbites = Which is a good thing. Because the common soundbite authors of today that continue to plagiarize this man's work is why modern New Thought & Modern New Age authors simply do not get it, nor teach accurately how to apply this information to get any actual results. These are functional structures that cannot really exist longterm as tiny chucked out soundbites.Life is about connecting... And continuation.Farther & Further. Seed to Greenery.Thus, it's long-drawn-out run-on sentences might seem challenging to modern readers, only because they are transcripts from lectures. Don't let this deter you. Do not let this turn you off from the read. It's well worth it to allow yourself the moments in "taking it all in". AKA - Gaining a New Thought. Read for a bit, take second, make the connection = Growth.Certainly, hearing a person speak this information helps a lot when absorbing all of it. Thus I'd recommend an audiobook version as well. But the words spoken (or written) are the trail. Each succession of terms are clues. Success leaves a trail of clues. These lectures (even in book form) are a way to reverse engineer "failures, hang-ups, & set-backs" into the actualized successes you more than likely intended upon initially acting on trying at any goal, in the first place.Simply know this, ...If your life is in a tough place, absorb this book. Try out what is suggested by Troward and you'll turn your life around in every area of your life.There is a reason why this book is so plagiarized in our day & age = Because it's contents are pragmatic, applicable, & timeless. Which is why it's best to get this information directly from the originator's / horse's mouth.Highly Recommended.

AGAIN, T.Troward was light years beyond his time in this world. He will change your outlook on life, world, and universe. I've read this book about 4 almost 5 times due to the fact I was involved in motorcycle accident and have been out of work. Was in the deepest darkest moments of my life, but after starting to read his lectures and " the law & the word" I've learned many useful affirmative tools and scientific prayer. I'm not big into religion at all but this guys writings are simply amazing and will teach you endless amounts on life, science, and how us humans operate! Stop reading my review and just put a few of his books in your cart and watch the magic of scientific prayer work in your life!!!!

The wisdom runs deep. I really enjoyed the thoughts and instructions on how to use the subconscious. The age of the book sometimes makes it sound flowering but the wisdom is still worth your time and effort,

Very deep by one of the 5 greatest mind authors and teachers

Needed to get the text, and guess what?...It's free for the kindle! Troward is an old time Judge, very smart, has a huge vocabulary, and likes to use it. Long sentences are the norm, and some of them will exhaust your mind as you try to follow along. Great content, just a little effort required to mine the gold from the ore.

I first came across Thomas Troward through working with Bob Proctor on a coaching program. Although I looked at all the great authors Bob mentioned, Thomas Troward very quickly became my favourite..These lectures, on what became known as 'New Thought', kind of metaphysical also, are nothing short of profound - if you study them and work them, not just read them.The principles contained in them are truly the secret to all this modern day talk about the 'Law of Attraction' and 'The Secret Movie' etc..I came across them a few years ago, and now they form a solid piece of my personal growth - in fact most Sundays I use these as my spiritual lessons[..]Yes, you need to study them, think about them, and shift your thinking into a more contemporary context - but the principles are timeless, and beautiful..Thoroughly recommended.

A fascinating classic in 19th Century Mental Science that inspired Ernest Holmes and other 20th Century students of the subject. As a jurist he sets the stage in the early "boring" chapters, then comes to a riveting conclusion at the end.

I quite enjoy reading Troward's work, even though I find it find it difficult to grasp. you really need to read his work over and over again, till the penny drops. The language and style is a bit dated which contributes to the difficulty. But there's some real treasure to be found in his books if you dig deep enough. You also really need to read all his books together to start getting it. If your new to Troward I would recommend starting with the Dore Lectures first as this is the easiest to understand.

For me personally so far it’s one of the greatest books I’ve ever read about mental science, spirituality, visualisation and self-power. For who likes the subject I totally recommend. it’s a small book but can take lots of concentration for a more clear understating.

What a stunning book. Read. Re read. Absorb....there is nothing more wonderful as having this subject matter unfold spread out before your very eyes!

Great book and story

I have read this work over 8 years. It has taken all that time to really understand the explanation of the metphysics contained in the Bible. It is not easy reading and really requires some divine instruction from early years on starting with Sunday School. ut it is the nitty [email protected]
