Zelus Borderless Tournament Chess Board with Inlaid Mahogany Wood, Large 18 x 18 Inch, Board Only

I have several boards at different price points and sizes. This represents a great value. Consistency of squares color is great also. One of the few boards of its size with 2.25 inch squares. All in an 18.5 inch board(not 18 as advertised). Highly recommend.

So, for some, the point of a full-sized, yet borderless board, is the having the effect of a large board, with minimal reach across the board during study. Most often, you have a book between yourself and the board, and the can only be so close (or you can put your book aside when starting an entirely new game or setup). I specifically searched out this board and it is the only model I found over a couple of years of looking. I do study daily, so that's going to be different from some (many lol) people shopping for a board. At any rate, I have other boards that I would likely use for, let's say, a blitz chess visitor. And a different set, also, as I use my favorite (also hard to replace) set. Just adding the perspective of why someone would look specifically for this. The quality is very reasonable given the price. It's been out of stock for a while now, and I'm waiting to buy another (as a backup) or a similar product (haven't seen any!) when one may become available. Great value, at least for me. Exactly what the (chess) doctor ordered. Back to Kramnik, now. Cheers

This is an excellent tournament sized board, a great value for the money. The workmanship, square color contrast and appearance is very good. The board was triple boxed for damage free shipment. The retail box had cardboard inserts to protect the corners. This box was then inserted into another thick box for additional protection. The two box combo was placed in an even larger box packed with shipping paper. It did the job, the board arrived in perfect condition. Note that this board does not have a border. I prefer this style, but this is an individual preference. If you have not played on this type of board, try it first before you purchase. I am pleased with this chessboard.

This board is half or a third of the price of anything else of this quality. (This is a fair price; others try to rip off chess lovers.)- The board, itself, is great-looking.- It lays perfectly flat, and doesn't slide.- The wood is finished really nicely. The tone is attractive and sophisticated.A must-buy for anyone looking for a tournament-sized board that is attractive and functional without the over-bearing footprint of other tournament-sized boards.As far as the lack of borders - honestly, forget about it taking time to get used to it. It takes literally five seconds, and honestly, I might never go back to borders. It's a cleaner play, visually. The lack of borders is a major win. I wish I'd bought a borderless one years ago.Highly recommend.

Nice looking Chess Board , arrived quickly with noDamage from shipping, good color uniformity of dark squares and light squares , wood craftsmanship is very good considering the price,while the flatness of the board is not perfect , it was totally with in reason , very minimal arch , not an issue for my situation

If you’re accustomed to playing on a board with borders please understand that playing on a borderless will take time getting used to. The idea and look of a borderless board is nice but in actuality it’s a bit strange; pieces are suddenly on the rim and during fast play you can easily knock pieces over.My board also came especially pale... the ‘dark’ squares looked much paler than what was shown in the photos. However, if you happen upon a decent copy and have ideas of customizing a nice table by levelling this chess board into it you’d probably turn it into a gem.

This is a lovely board at a great price....an unbeatable price if you're into shopping for chess equipment. Wooden boards, even if simply veneered, usually go for much more. In appearance, this board is the equal of any of the more expensive boards I own and enhances the appearance of any chess set I've placed on itIt has the advantage of being borderless, meaning it provides standard (large) 2.5 inch squares while taking up less table area.

The board is well made and finished. It is pretty heavy,, and is really solid on a table. It is a good fit with a 4"+king set.
