Quiet, stable, works just as described.
Hello everyone,Seasonic is notably a reputable company for consumer-end PC desktop PSUs, and for good reason. The Focus Gold, 80 Plus Gold 550W unit that I've purchased works just as well as I would expect. Even though of course, it's quite brand new for me and has only been with me for about 2 weeks of ownership, it's does exactly what I want from it.Thus far, It's quiet and has my new PC running smoothly, and it's hard to beat the 10 year warranty with it. I'm very happy to have made this purchase, and happy with Seasonic for this model. Full modularity makes cable management a decent breeze even with a relatively SFF (small form factor) build via a mini-ITX motherboard build. Makes me and my tiny PC both happy. To everyone reading this review, thank you very much, and take comfort in my assurance that with my personal experience with this PSU model, it's worked a charm so far. ~ Kevin

Easy to install and quiet
Modular was pretty much a requirement for my ITX build. This PSU fit the bill and runs very quiet. It looks and feels well made and it comes in a small cloth bag (I don't know much about materials. Is it nylon? Dunno) that feels very professional. The cables come in a separate bag (in the same box) with a drawstring.I'm happy with my purchase.

Just worked, with no hassle
My five-year-old and I built a gaming PC last weekend. Installing this PSU was so simple I let _him_ screw it into the case. I had to do a bit of Googling to figure out whether I wanted the fan facing up or down (I've never built a PC before), but after resolving that question, everything else was smooth sailing. Very happy with the hybrid fan control: one of my main aims was to build a VERY quiet gaming PC and I think I've achieved that. Even in modern games with all settings on ultra high (and a 4k@60Hz monitor to boot), I can't hear ANYTHING from the machine.I'd definitely recommend Seasonic; the PSU felt well-built and has served me well so far.

It just works! Highly recommended.
No complaints here. Install was straightforward in my NZXT H500. I haven't noticed the noise once over my stock AMD Wraith cooler. I keep hybrid mode on but accidently had it off for a few months and didn't notice a difference. Fully-modular is amazing! No more loose useless cables floating around. Only one interesting thing I can point out is that it does not have a single SATA power cable, only cables with two SATA power plugs. It works fine with just one HDD, but that means there is one unused plug on the cable sitting there. Came with a bag (useless), an expired promise of a Steam code (useless), and a bunch of blue SEASONIC-branded cable-ties that are nice quality but ugly. No comment on energy efficiency - how tf does Amazon expect us to have an opinion on that?

Looks like an excellent power supply with a few caveats.
Focus Plus SSR-550FX 550W 80+ power supply (PS).PROS:.... 1. I like the small size which is exactly the same size as the original PS in my Dell XPS-8900 that failed. So it was easy to install in that regard..... 2. The PS is silent even with the fan control button pushed in (fan runs all the time) since the fan speed is slow with minimal air flow. I guess the fan speed will increase if it needs to, to keep the PS cool..... 3. Having a power on/off switch is excellent so don't have to pull the plug to remove A/C power to the PS..... 4. I bought this PS since it is advertised as having all Japanese capacitors. With my 40+ years of electronics experience, capacitors (especially electrolytic capacitors) are what usually fail and make a device inoperative.CONS:.... 1. Being modular, there were no instructions on how to plug cables into the PS. No pictures or anything. I finally figured out which cables plug into which sockets in the PS but I'm still left wondering if plugging into different sockets of the same group would distribute the load more evenly. I'm assuming now that all of the sockets in a group connect to the same power bus so it doesn't matter, but it would have been VERY helpful for instructions to point that out. Minus one star for this..... 2. There is no way to remove the fan's grill without opening the PS up. But there's a sticker over one screw that voids the warranty if it is broken. I always remove the grill over the PS' fan to allow cleaning the fan blades when they get dusty. Dust can reduce the air flow from the fan significantly if allowed to build up. I can't see running this PS for 10 years without ever cleaning the fan blades, but doing that will void the warranty. A catch 22. --- Seasonic, if you read this, plz consider mounting the fan grill outside of the PS case so the grill can be removed to clean the fan blades without having to open the PS up. This could actually help make your power supplies more reliable for better reputation..... 3. The SATA power connectors are facing the wrong way for the hard drives in the XPS8900. The hard drives in the 8900 are positioned vertically. The main drive is right up against the frame. If the SATA power cable's "middle" connector is plugged on to this main drive the cable to the PS is in the way of putting the cover back on to the case. I had to install the middle connector to my second hard drive and loop it to install the end connector on the main hard drive. Very kludgy. How about facing the middle SATA power connectors one way on one SATA cable and the other way on the other SATA cable? ---- EDIT: Maybe an even better solution is to have the shorter SATA cable that has only 2 SATA connectors on it, not have a mid cable SATA connector. Instead, have that cable split into a "Y" with straight "end of cable type" SATA connectors. ---- Or have a molex to two SATA connectors "Y" adapter included. Then the user could use the included molex cable, attach the "Y" sata cable and end up with two straight SATA connectors on the end of the cables. This would also give the user a third SATA power cable.OF NOTE:The power cables are much too long for use in a Dell XPS8900. It took some time to figure out where and to store the excess cables. Being a modular PS, it would have been excellent if one could select shorter power cables to suit the computer. Hope Seasonic will consider this as a feature for their modular power supplies. It could help sell their modular power supplies if they are the only ones to do this. I know it would have been a big selling point for me.SUMMARY:All in all, this PS looks to be of excellent quality so 4 stars for it from me.

Excellent company, excellent power supply
I have had no issues with this power supply. Very quiet and reliable.Extra info about Seasonic: A few years back, I had one of my seasonic power supplies die. No smoke, just wouldn't start up.Seasonic honored the warranty, and provided me with a replacement. Very hassle-free process. All they asked for was proof of recycling the old unit, so they could apply the warranty to the new one.I appreciate working with Seasonic. Great experience :)
