Randy II FCC - First FCC Approved AM/FM Handheld CB Radio

This is one of the best handheld cb radios I’ve used. It has several handy features and works great. My only 2 complaints are battery life which is only short if you use it to talk on a lot, just monitoring channels and only using it occasionally like I normally do at work it lasts over 12 hours but talking frequently cuts it down a lot. The other complaint is the antenna. It does not have a very long range for talking or receiving with the original rubber antenna. It works fine for what I use it for at work but if you want more range either get an adapter and a longer antenna or use an adapter and a mobile antenna. I bought adapters and have both. I use the HYT telescoping antenna with an adapter as well as a Wilson little wil magnet mount mobile antenna on my personal vehicle. At work I just use the rubber antenna it came with because range is not an issue as I’m close enough for it to do what I need it to do. With the other 2 antennas it has a good range up to 7 miles that I’ve talked on it. Overall it’s an excellent choice for a handheld. It takes up very little space feels very solid and high quality just like you would expect from a company like President as they used to make some of the best and still some of the most sought after radios from back in the day and this one is no exception especially with all features like AM and FM capability as well as the NOAH weather broadcasts. This also has automatic squelch control so if you don’t like the static of normal cb radios you turn on the asc feature and it cuts out almost all the static and allows you to receive only the strong clear signals near you. It’s an excellent feature in a small radio. This is perfect if you need to communicate with others for work purposes or even just to keep charged up and toss in your vehicle to monitor traffic because cb radio is still the fastest way to get traffic info and save yourself a lot of time avoiding backups and accidents. It’s even good for off-roading with buddies because it takes up so little space in even the smallest vehicles. I’ve never used a better handheld especially at this price

Because this bad boy packs more features than a Swiss Army knife on steroids. You've got your channel scanning, your squelch control, your noise blanker – it's like a buffet of radio goodness. And don't even get me started on the ease of use. I swear, my grandma could figure this thing out, and she still calls the internet 'the interweb.'And the quality? Oh, let me tell you about the quality. It's like the radio equivalent of biting into a perfectly ripe peach – crisp, clear, and oh-so-satisfying. Whether you're chatting with your trucker buddies or just listening in on the neighborhood gossip, you'll feel like you're right there in the action.So, in conclusion, do I recommend the President Randy II CB Radio? Heck yeah, I do! It's like the Swiss Army knife of communication devices – except it won't help you open a bottle of wine. But hey, nobody's perfect. Five stars, two thumbs up, and a pat on the back to whoever invented this little slice of radio heaven.

Awesome Raido, pros: solid , feels great, good sound quality, lots of features, good range off the President Virginia antenna. Cons : short battery time. Speaker/ Mic jack only works with President's Mic.

I just got this HT a few days ago, so I don't have a lot to say about it now, but will revise this review after I get more familiar with it, and use it more. But in the meantime - It's a very slick design and fits in my hand like they were made for each other. I bought it for 2 reasons: 1. AA batteries aren't cheap and I wanted something with FM while checking radios with AM and FM, and 2. I had a bunch of Amazon points burning a hole in my pocket 😁. While I think the selling price is high (although lower than when it first came out), I understand President has a new model (JERRY FCC) coming out (it's on their website now). It looks just like this one, but I've heard it will have less features so it won't replace the Randy II FCC, but offer another model at a lower price. I've flipped through the menu, and did a transmit & receive test to make sure it works, but it's main job will be replacing my 50 year-old Radio Shack TRC-100 that will more-or-less be a bench radio to help in testing others. Both the AM and FM transmit and receive sound good. So at this juncture I don't have much more to say, except for a road trip /camp out vacation it would pair up nicely if you also had the President McKinley II FCC in your vehicle, acting as a base. At the time of this review the Randy FCC is selling for $164 along with a 5% coupon, dropping the price to around $155. P.S. - Yes the rubber duck antenna is fairly useless giving you limited range, so I'll be buying a longer antenna if one is available (haven't checked yet).
